I wouldn't say they largely affect the game to be completely honest. I mean, like others have said, the tribal lines aren't as important now, now that immunity is individual, and as we all saw at last night's vote, neither are/were pairs bonds, or lack thereof.

They do potentially influence the game! But not fully!
I mean it is much easier when you get down to persay Final 6, 3 ppl are left from your tribe, you could easily grab them and form a quick alliance.
