I'm always interested in people's weird little quirks and foibles. Gonna see if that's just me, or if I can make this a thing.

6) I have a hatred/borderline phobia of bananas and my best friend and I refer to them only as "[redacted fruit]"
That gets me 5, so I'll pick a couple of people from the Stars as I was in and a couple of people on my friends list...
N.B. There’s not a tl;dr – I’m a verbose prick, deal with it.
I regularly write blog articles. It’s what I do for part of my living, it’s what I do for fun sometimes, it’s what I do for serious social causes I believe in. I can’t say I was overly expecting to start writing them for tengaged purposes, but here we go.
I have been on the site for just under a month. In that time, I have played every single type of game there is. I’ve dealt with people of every reputation. I’ve played at different times of day. I’ve got, as much as one can do within a month, a reasonably rounded perspective on things.
In that time, one word, probably more than any other has cropped up over and over again.
Multi. Fucking Multi. For the record, however much you might persist with saying it, I am not one. I never have been, I never will be, I am an incredibly competitive person, and I dislike strongly, anyone using an advantage that is outside of the rules. I have seen OBVIOUS multis. I agree, that they are an issue. You don’t want to have a site, and indeed a game where people can ruin your hard work collecting T$ by dragging a load of multis into your frook etc. – to me, I don’t give a shit about paying for currency. If I could do with it, and I can afford it, I’ll do it. Don’t care. But to several people that’s not an option. For them I understand the issues.
What I don’t understand, and don’t accept, is that blindly throwing it around to disparage players you don’t like is a good idea. Haranguing players is a good idea. Accusing someone of being someone else, and then after being told you’ve no idea what they’re talking about, calling them a retarded faggot amongst some other choice words. The number of messages I’ve had, in less than a month, calling me all sorts of distasteful epithets, is nothing short of repulsive.
I am a grown adult, with a thick skin. But I’m a grown adult, with a thick skin, and rapid cycling Bipolar disorder. As well as degenerative nerve damage which means I have to take a wide range of funky medication to get through the day, which sometimes leave me feeling a bit off. So some of this can get to me. Can’t lie.
And then I consider how people as young as 13 sign up for this site. And who might not have a thick skin. And who might have their own issues. And I wonder what they’re making of it here.
This, for me, and I’m sure for many others, was designed as something of escapism. It’s playing a *game* - keyword there – game. I imagine for many others the same. When your escapism is inexorably linked with people who not only want to give you abuse for playing the game, but also outside of it, apropos of nothing, just because they have a false idea of who you may (or more likely) may not be, then that escapism ceases to be escapism.
The young people I think of, in a lot of cases seem to come from demographics, especially LGBT seemingly, where acceptance and safety may be a concern to them. For the most part, on a sexuality, race, gender level, this does seem to be a pretty accepting site. But less accepting in other ways. Cliquing is certainly prominent.
None of this makes for a happy community. And yet there’s constant posts about the death of Tengaged, and how its not like it used to be when it was popular. Well yeah… maybe cos people are fucking sick of you.
I’m already considering pissing off from here once the group games I’ve committed to are over and I’ve wasted my currency.
There are swathes of good people on this site, but there are also a vast number of nasty pieces of work. Or at least, people who’ve chosen this website to live out their fantasies of being one, perhaps.
And they will kill your home here, long before “Oh the site looks dated” and “Oh there’ve been no updates since the dawn of time” – firstly, if you enjoy playing a game, and the graphics of it aren’t important, you’re not going to leave. Secondly, there’s hardly a booming marketplace for this stuff. It’s this, or nothing as far as I could tell. If you keep the place busy enough, vibrant enough, welcoming enough, eventually someone with deep pockets will probably buy the site and make the updates. No-one other than the most ardent of nostalgic long-term player would want to do that at the moment though.
Stop wringing your hands of responsibility, and change the site yourself. Promote it more. Play on it more. Call out people being cunts and don’t turn them into demigods more. The list is endless.
I’m sure I will be told in no uncertain terms that I’m old, don’t understand how the Internet works, self-righteous, blah blah blah – I don’t give a shit. I’m telling you how I see it, and if you don’t like it, fine.
But you will lose something that I’m sure has been, and could be, a wonderful thing for many people.
This was somewhat proven by the Stars game I was just in. Don’t get me wrong, I have heard some horror stories. But within it I found it a group of mostly good people, who wanted to play a hard game, but a fair game, as this site was intended. And to have a good deal of chat and well-meaning banter along the way.
They seemed to be a group of people who had learnt not to shit on their doorstep, and certainly not to trample it into their house. Maybe I just got lucky, but it gives me a degree of hope.
OK, so my efforts at counting backwards have got me to 10. And landed me in the path of an undoubted legend. I wouldn't blame people for voting for him on reputation alone.
However I've been on this site for a MONTH - I don't think it's even that yet. I know no-one's interpersonal relationships. I know no-one's MOs. I am flying completely on my own gut.
And my own gut has got people openly scared enough to target me. So. You can let the undoubted legend do his thing, and end up doing well-ish but not winning.
Or you can let me make merry hell. It's your call folks, but there will be no surprises if you boot me out. And who doesn't love a surprise?
Also, I'll leak my nudes if you don't keep me and if I do that, the site will be so scarred it'll die for good. Your future entertainment is on the line.

I can only assume that either a) it's cos I've got to a high level - yes, because I'm OK with paying for currency because I'm impatient and won't wait around to upgrade colours. Why would I not pay to enhance my experience of something I'm enjoying or b) I'm too good at this for you to believe I'm a newbie. In which case, cheers bbz x
