New Alt Rock owes everything to MGMT's first album Oracular Spectacular, it set the bar for alt rock today. However what makes me love MGMT is their tendancy to change sounds with every album. They are truly a new band with every album they make. Will they ever be popular again? Probably not, but they clearly don't care and just want to play whatever they feel like. Their trippy sound is something i appreciate as well. Just plain love this band. They are unique but have a clear identity and that is something I respect.
