Wooo I'm here with the round 5 results! You all sent me songs by my favorite band, Bright Eyes! Before we get into this, I've actually hosted many games that involved submitting songs and me critiquing them on another site in the past. I tend to leave long comments when judging songs, so prepare for essays with lots of quotes of my favorite lines, and random tangents and things the songs make me think of. Yay!
LovelyKiss - Lua - This song is like...everything. It's in my top 3 favorite Bright Eyes songs, probably in my top 10 favorite songs of all times. This is one of the songs that I can just listen to over and over. The music is just so sweet an simple, and the lyrics are fantastic. This is one of those songs that when I start quoting my favorite lines I end up quoting half the song. "When everything is lonely I can be my own best friend" "And I know you have a heavy heart, I can feel it when we kiss. So many men stronger than me have thrown their backs out trying to lift it, but me I'm not a gamble, you can count on me to split" "what is normal in the evening by the morning seems insane" "what was simple in the moonlight in the morning so complicated, it was so simple in the moonlight, so simple in the moonlight"
Heavenlee - The Calendar Hung Itself - I'm actually really excited that you sent this, because it's one of my favorites off it's album and like...it's not an obvious pick in any way. Like I said I have hosted music games on the old messageboard I played games on, and I have forced people to send me Bright Eyes before, and I don't think anyone has ever sent me this song, so major brownie points there. Anyway, I love how quickly and kind of breathlessly he sings at a lot of parts during this, and he gets whispery at times, and ugh, its so good. Like this song is very depressing, but in a weirdly upbeat way, and I love it so much. The lyrics are fantastic, the splicing in of you are my sunshine is so cool.
ouijake - Road to Joy - Haha I predicted that you would be one of, if not the only, person in the cast who actually knew the band. Great choice, this song is iconic. Random story, so my friend Christina was from Des Moines, and I stayed at her house for a week, and we drove to Omaha one night, which is like 2 hours each way, and we were both huge Conor stans, and he's from Omaha, so we kept talking about him, and listening to music in the car. And this was at the very beginning of January 2008, and Barrack Obama had won the first caucus, in Iowa, and we just had such good feelings for the year ahead, and this song came on, and we just BLASTED it and had such good vibes about the future. So it's a great song to begin with, but it holds a special place in my heart because of the associations. Also, fun fact, my facebook bio has been "I could have been a famous singer if I had someone else's voice" for at least 10 years now.
Becksta20 - Lover I Don't Have to Love - Haha I know I've made you listen to this before, I can't remember if I submitted it to your game, or if this was one of the songs I gave you to listen to in a casting once. I think the first option. I'm hoping you picked this because you liked it so much when I sent it to you, and not just laziness since you know I like it, haha. I love the opening notes to this song so much, and the song itself is so good, it's like, sexy in a totally depraved way.
joshgillespie - First Day of My Life - So you were the first to submit, and I definitely predicted that the first person to predict would send this, it's the most mainstream song by them, and the music video is adorable. With the entire extensive Bright Eyes catalog available, I don't think this would even make my top 10, but it's still a beautiful sweet love song. "This is the first day of my life, I'm glad I didn't die before I met you" and "With these things there's no telling, you'll just have to wait and see, but I'd rather be working for a paycheck than waiting to win the lottery" are such great lines.
Midiaw - Easy, Lucky, Free - I always forget about this song actually, but when I listen to it, it's quite good. "I never really dreamed of heaven much until we put him in the ground, but it's all I'm doing now, listening for patterns in the sound of an endless static sea" The song has such a carefree sounding title, but it's some of Conor's best deep, sad lyrics about life and death.
Christian_ - Persona Non Grata - This is from the new album they released this year, after a very long hiatus while Conor worked on different solo projects. I've only listened to the album a few times, I liked it but I didn't have the attachment to it that I do to some of the earlier albums. This is a pretty good song off the album though. It like...half has classic old Bright Eyes sound, half sounds like grown up Conor. The opening to this song is so good, the simple notes paired with his singing, and the song tells a nice story.
Turkeylover - Bowl of Oranges - This song is a classic (for fans, haha, not for you uncultured swine). Can't go wrong with a song with a fruit in the title! My comments might get shorter for the last few submissions I listen to, I'm finishing after my frookies and I'm tired. I love the upbeat melody and contemplative lyrics.
AmandaBynes - Mariana Trench - You went with a new song, this album just came out this year. The album is decent, but it doesn't have the same nostalgia of the ones I've listened to for years. This is one of the ones off it that I have listened to the most, though. I really like these lines "it takes a lot of gall to try to please, these dehumanizing entities, I befriended all my enemies, they had my back against the wall."
Kmartt - (IMMUNE) - Lmao you troll. Also lmaoooo when you said you were going to make me listen to your favorite band, I was expecting something obscure for some reason, not a boy band I listened to in high school! They have total Boyz II Men vibes on this song. Enjoyable I guess but this is not Bright Eyes, sir :P

#Kmartt is last place, but since he is immune, he moves on to the next round. Which is a win for everyone, because you all move on, and I don't have to eliminate a Bright Eyes song and worry about Conor Oberst taking it personally.
