Boxsets

What's your opinion on boxsets?
I mean in terms of movies, books and TV shows.

I love them and hate them simultaneously.
Here's why...

When a movie is released and you know for sure that there's going to be a sequel, I get put off buying it individually.
Why buy one when the boxset with all of them will be cheaper, right?

A good example of that is the Hunger Games. I would buy the DVD, but I don't see a point when I could buy all 3 in 5 years time for much cheaper. (y)

Before you say, "Why don't you just download it?", I will add that I love DVDs. Love them.
I also love physical books that you can feel and smell.
NOTHING beats reading a brand new, untouched book.
Especially hardback. Seriously. #INeedHelp

My dad bought my eldest sister the Dark Knight trilogy (which is fine, no more Dark Knights coming),
my middle sister the Harry Potter boxset (fine again, no more Harry Potters),
and me the Star Wars boxset.

I was thrilled when I got it, but now there's this new trilogy coming which RUINS my boxset.

....Maybe I have something wrong, but hear me out.

Many years ago, my dad bought the first 4 Harry Potter books in a set. Paperback.
Then he buys a hardback Order of the Phoenix.
Then he buys the adult covers of the last two books.
They look ugly together....='[

Am I crazy or does this make sense?

I like matching things. Especially if it is a series.

I'm reading James Patterson's Michael Bennett series (a cop with 10 adopted kids funzies).
The series isn't finished and I dunno if it ever will....but I want to buy the books.
Welp. ='[

I have the same opinion really. It's a bit silly to buy a box set of a movie franchise that you know is 100% going to expand. Like Harry Potter, I really don't think the shops should even be allowed to do that :o My HP books are all different too, some paperback, some hardback. I also have a book series (Tom Thornes detective series) and I have bought about 4 different types of covers ( I have about 7 of the books) on the shelf they are in the wrong order, and it look hideous.

Furthermore, I don't like box sets because I never seem to finish the box set, and it ends up gathering dust xD
