Spam Reduction Through Auction Algo Adjustment

Jul 29, 2012 by ScifiChick
Do you think that a higher rate of day change per number of designs submitted would result in less in-game spam, a lowering of prices, and a net increase in total T$ spent on designs.

Personally, I couldn't afford a hoodie if it were a mere $100 and I highly doubt any design of mine will ever make it to auction on any algo.
Still, spamming does seem to limit choice and inflate prices and a reduction in spam might have positive externalities, such as a reduction in the negging of the first and second most popular items, thereby sometimes knocking the most wanted items out of contention until a repost.

Any thoughts?

I actually think there'd be more spam.

Spam increases like crazy the closer to day change it gets, since all of a sudden people aren't asking you to plus their design, but neg others.

But generally yes, a higher supply will lower demand, which will make prices drop.  It'd have to be a big change though... People still buy very expensive things (that aren't always the nicest...)

Bo_om, you make a good argument that spam would increase.
Maybe there is a sweet spot where it increases so much as to become ineffectual and self-regulates down to a tolerable level?
