The Spam Game Solution: Mob Justice

Jun 9, 2009 by RoboBob3000
Here's my approach to dealing with spam related to the Design Game:

You spam me, I neg you. Simple as that. Can't we all just take that approach?

If you post your design link in any comment thread, I'm going to neg it with extreme prejudice.

If you mail me your design link, I'm going to neg it with extreme prejudice.

Blogging I'm okay with. You get one blog post per design. Any more than that, I neg you.

You get one link per game. Use it wisely. Any more than that, I neg you. :P

If somebody were to gather up all of the spammed violators' links of the day and organize them into a blog post, citing their infractions, I'll go through and neg them one-by-one. Just saying. If you get a bunch of people doing the same as me, you might just fix the Design Game.

Spam exists because spam works. Only when you eliminate spam's effectiveness will you eliminate spam. Save your plusses for something that's actually interesting!

Deleting comments isn't the solution - discouraging spammers is.
