it's election day

Nov 3, 2020 by Patrick319
and I'm excited to hopefully get some clarity on certain things I have on mind:

1. when trump inevitably declares victory tonight before all the votes are officially counted, how will mainstream media pundits react? will they roll over and treat trumps lies & delusions as reality, or will they pushback and try to restore a sense of fairness and democracy?

2. will the narrative that the "election is close" (when polls suggest otherwise) backfire on democrats if/when biden wins the election handily? I understand why a lot of liberals are suggesting that the election is close (to incentivize people to vote & not be complacent), but it gives republicans an easy talking point that the election was "rigged" or "fraudulent" if/when biden wins by safe rather than close margins.

3. will biden win florida, or are we in for another 2018-level surprise? a lot of pollsters underrated republican support in florida during the 2018 midterms when they won BOTH major state-wide races.

4. to segway from question 3, will florida even be called TONIGHT? if called for biden, the race is practically over and we likely won't have to depend on the sluggish vote tallying in pennsylvania to get a clear idea of the winner. if called for trump, we have a race on our hands.

5. will there in fact be a "red mirage" once votes start being reported as some experts suggest, whereby it appears that trump is leading significantly before all mail-in votes (which skew democratic) are counted?

6. will there be any significant changes in demographic support for either democrats or republicans? is there any truth to the claim that "black men are breaking for trump"? will white women in the suburbs really turnout for biden? will youth turnout break records?

7. speaking of demographics, has texas shifted enough demographically in the last two years to put biden & down-ballot democrats ahead in key races? or are we in for another election cycle of a purple/lean red texas?

I CAN'T WAIT!!

My predictions

1. Everyone but fox will treat it as a joke

2.idt it will backfire and I feel like it will be fairly close as trumpers are very fanatic

3. He's gonna lose Florida

4. No it won't be

5. My gov teacher talked about this likely happening so I think so

6. Way more young ppl are going to turn out for democrats

7. No idt it will go blue this year

I don’t know if you’re getting these answers tonight. The obvious story coming is trump saying the whole thing is fake or rigged because of mail in votes and well be counting votes again and again for a week

konohavillage1 I mean yeah it’s going to be a few weeks until I find out how the election played out with certain demographic groups and whatnot. I don’t expect to know today. I also realize that we might not get a winner by tonight, but for my sanity I hope we do.

Though in saying that I think you bring up a lot of good questions specifically the 2nd one

im like 90% sure florida will be called tonight. this site has some good info: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/election-results-timing/

it seems pretty split between states that count absentee ballots first and last so
