“Hey Jenna, I need your brain. Get in here.” He says.
Jenna is sitting at the door as Drew is trying to comfort her.
“Jenna!” Yells Benjamin.
“Give her a minute!” Says Drew. “Will just died!”
“What don’t you people understand?!” Says Benjamin. “We don’t have minutes to waste! Will is dead, we aren’t! Survival of the fittest!”
This causes Jenna to storm into the room.
“Will wasn’t weak! Okay? He sacrificed himself for us!” She screams.
“Well then let’s not waste that sacrifice by getting killed!” Says Benjamin.
Everyone looks around the room. There are 7 hospital beds. Each of the players seems to be familiar with a different one.
“This was my room...” Says Christian.
“This was my bed...” Says Jenna.
“Mine too.” Says Dan.
Jenna’s eyes are fixed on a doctor file with Will’s name on it.
“It’s Will’s!” She says. She picks up the file and starts reading it. “He was on a trip to Venezuela when the country got nuked. He was the only survivor.”
Jenna gets a little shy, and then starts sharing her experience.
She says “I lived in a giant house... when one day, a fire broke out... no one knows what started it. I lost all my valuables and family... and- and I was the only one who survived. I went to live with my aunt... and she’s such an abusive asshole... so I ran away. I came here because I needed the money.”
Benjamin begins to speak.
“I was at a diner having lunch with my friends, when all of a sudden a gunman came in and shot the place down. He shot everyone in the building a few times and killed everyone who was still alive after the first few bullets. Before he got to me... he just killed himself. I don’t know why, maybe he knew the cops were coming. Maybe he knew it was over.”
He turns to Drew.
“What about you?”
Drew starts sharing his story.
“I was on a plane with my fiancée and her family... and mine for that matter. Out of nowhere, the plane just crashed. I was in bad shape when the found me... and no one else was alive.”
It’s Dan’s turn.
“I was in an office building. What I didn’t know was there was a gas leak inside. It caused a very fiery explosion. I was very lucky to survive... especially since no one else did.”
Christian is the last one.
“I was on a field trip when I was in school. We were headed to a dairy farm. There was a rabies outbreak throughout the whole farm, and no one knew it. Everyone in my class was slaughtered. By the time help arrived, I was the only one alive.”
“They knew everything... they knew about my fear of heights...”
“And my fear of Fire...” Says Dan.
“They knew the exact layout of the diner I was shot in!” Says Benjamin.
“They made these rooms for us!” Says Drew. ”They knew where to contact us, how to get us to come here...”
Jenna grabs another file.
“It’s Desiree’s.” She says. “Ferris Wheel accident. Everyone on board except her was killed.”
“The Ferris Wheel Room!” Says Christian.
“So... none of us died right?” Says Benjamin.
“We’re sole survivors!” Says Jenna. “We all were lucky! And now they want to see who’ll be the luckiest of all...”
There is a moment of silence.
All of a sudden, a TV in the room turns on. There’s an old-timey commercial, and eventually a 5:00 timer appears and begins counting down.
“Okay, well at least we know how much time we have.” Says Christian.
“Yeah,” Says Drew, “knowing exactly when I’m gonna die is a huge comfort!”
