the whole argument that democrats are just concerned with "non issues" such as gender pronouns is a conservative talking point used to discredit democrats and liberals in general. no democratic politician is actively discussing the misuse of gender pronouns as a significant issue plaguing the united states. of course they're going to use someone's preferred pronouns (because they're decent humans) but nobody is making an ISSUE out of it.
patrick319 it鈥檚 not the politicians who are doing it, it鈥檚 the media that is making it a big deal and actively talking about it which skews people鈥檚 opinions, perceptions, and votes during the election. No it may not be talked about actively by politicians but it is talked about actively on twitter by people who think they have the slightest clue what politics is. Social media is making the dems look stupid which is ultimately what will cause trump to be re-elected
memphis_grizzlies my boyfriend signed me up for presidential election emails as a joke, but reading them, I find that they focus on Trump way too much. It seems like the whole Democratic Party just focuses on how trump is bad instead of how they are good. That鈥檚 why Andrew scheer lost in Canada. Again they鈥檙e working harder by fighting and throwing everything they possibly can at trump instead of being smarter and being selective and strategic with what they do.
Fetish nobody is surprised that the media sucks. the mainstream media is filled with establishment hacks on both sides (democrat and republican). fortunately I think most voters are aware of that, especially young voters. as for social media idk I think you're overestimating the impact that random people on twitter have on the overall result. I don't think most people are going to base their vote on what a kpop stan account has to say about society.
and sure I think *some* democrats are focusing too much on trump. an example is Joe Biden. from what I see he literally stands for nothing besides the fact he "isn't trump", which is exactly how Hillary Clinton lost. I don't think trump is a shoe in for another 4 years in the white house, but it depends on who the democrats eventually nominate.
patrick319 I don鈥檛 mean individual stars like that. I mean just the general opinions, posts, headlines etc. When you鈥檙e bombarded by the same dramatic and passionate posts it gets old quickly and people get annoyed by it. That鈥檚 what I find changes opinions, not Katy Perry telling people not to vote for Trump. There are lots of people who say they can鈥檛 identify with the democrat party anymore because of the aforementioned reasons. It鈥檚 just exhausting.
im not any less far left than before but i just dont think this kind of thing Right now is important for elections. they should ensure the 2020 win first because america cant handle 4 more years of trump
