1) Children are encouraged to make an educated decision. If they're unaware, they cannot make one. Thus, teaching creationism would educate them.
2) By teaching creationism of religions, then students would be more aware on the topic, and thus would be able to see where people come from. This also makes them respect people a little bit more.
3) By teaching this, many students can find mutual respect and similarities between other religions, thus creating a more positive environment in the subject of religion.
The plan: A one month course perhaps, in grade nine. The idea would be taught, not preached. Religious beliefs will not be forced upon people. Should this offend you or be against your religion, you must get notice from a parent/guardian. There will be one month notice prior to start this course, though it will be in the English/History outline (whichever the schools choose). Should you already be known for being a certain religion, but cannot get a guardian letter, then things may be worked out. This would be taught in a similar way to a novel study, though simply the creationism idea.
Now, people are saying "Religious beliefs are being forced upon people.". This isn't true. Roman and Greek gods are taught at the middle school level, yet we clearly don't see children war shipping these. In addition to this, Santa is mentioned at lower level education. Is this forcing religious beliefs upon people? No, it's not. If they don't wanna believe, they don't have to. Kids as small as third graders don't believe because they can. High schoolers have the same ability 'against' more powerful religions.

LMFAO I AM DEAD
IF YOU WANNA LEARN CREATIONISM THEN GO TO CHURCH
OMG STOP I AM SO DEAD
Brandonator, fact of the matter is, people are uneducated. Over a third of the world believes in creationism. If we cannot teach people about it, conflicts will evolve.
Zimdelinvasor, it's not preaching. It's teaching about what it is. In schools, people teach about Roman and Greek gods. Are you saying that the teaching of that should be banned too?
Brandonator, you're being ignorant. I simply said that they'd teach the idea of it. You're acting like it'd be an entire church thing. Realistically, it'd be a one month course.
Teaching Roman/Greek gods?... It's called Mythology.. No teacher or course is implying that Poseidon is the one making water come out of the fountain..
loopux one. They already do have that, in my English 2 were studying Bible as literature.
two. If they're gonna have this class than they need one for ALL major religions otherwise its just pointless and stupid... But I disagree with taught religion. Life is about what YOU believe and the only way to know what religion you truly are is to Figure out you're beliefs with no other influence and find that religion yourself, not have someone else teach it.
Ghoul, either way, children as young as third graders have enough judgement to choose their beliefs. So why can't high schoolers?
Blackraz, that's the basic concept. It's teaching or "studying" the idea of creationism. Creationism is actually in a LOT of religions. The idea itself is being brought up because a huge mass of people believe in it, if not over half the world's population.
loopux wait is that simply the belief that God created man?
If so, I like the idea but they also need to add evolution/big bang theory to even it out so the students will know ALL major beliefs.
I also think there should be an alternative religion course. My personal religion, Spiritism, is known to pretty much known to no one and I had to legitely type in all my beliefs to Google and go through a bunch of shit To find a relgion that matched me.
So an alternative/non-mainstream religion course to me would be awesome xD
o.O woah.... tbh I just leave religion alone. Let people believe however they S>want ^^ I think this creationism might work if you widened it. If it involves ALL major religions it would be alright... I'd rather a class That teaches fundamental beliefs of a religion. Doesn't force them though... kinda like just a world religion course.. I would take that. I Like seeing how others believe and how that affects their actions ^^
lol I know ^^ but what im saying is that SO many religions see the creation differently. Shoes have multiple Gods, some simply have different ways the Godade them. For this course to worknit would have to.focus on every Single religions creation belief. There is no legite Proof of.creationism(Dont get me wrong, I believe it) so they would have to teach it as... almost like how teachers teach you how to read novels. Not to take it as a true fact.
i didnt read the comments but actually dumbshit santa is NOT taught to younger kids because its about a religious holiday, schools dont celebrate christmas at all anymore because of that, so please just shut the fuck up LOL.. in the words of the all powerful beccalemonface, you are da weakest link, goodbye
