who go to college. Is your GPA very important for getting jobs? Like do they look at your GPA? Because in Europe no one cares, no one looks at your scores, they just wanna see the diploma.
Thank you for your answers (I am actually asking cuz of a friend who wants to study in USA)
Cadden I never asked which majors are good. I am doing economics and finance managament, I am just asking if they look at your GPA when you are applying to jobs. You totally missed my question
JoeDaManXD Actually I should have said major and/or job. If you're not looking to apply to grad school or anything, you can get an entry-level software engineer position with a 2.9 GPA in computer science. But if you want to get into a computer science PhD program here to pursue a career in academia, you need a 3.5+. Just go on reddit and look up what a good GPA is for a future intended job and you'll find people's perspectives from that field
I would say for those 2 majors that GPA is on the important side. A candidate with a 3.2 GPA is definitely going to be taken less seriously than a candidate with a 3.8, unless the 3.2 candidate has a good research résumé or something of the sort
_Aria hm so it is pretty important. So for example an Econ/Business student usually needs a good GPA? In Europe our scores are not important at all, no one looks at them. You just need dimploma and experience, work ethic and stuff like that. Pretty interesting. Thank you!
Memphis_Grizzlies hm interesting. Our scores aren't really that importnat here, like people get bad scores because they do sports, have hobbies, even have start-ups (for example I do video and photography, starting with clients..) So for us it is important to just pass. Like experience/work you have done... Even companies like google, microsoft, apple and more don't even require a degree anymore, imagine them looking at scores.. And just because someone was book smart doesn't mean they are capable of doing real work. I think looking at scores is kinda usleless but I guess thats how it is in USA.
