Just read Anne Frank Diary

Sep 23, 2019 by JoeDaManXD
It hurts. I feel bad for her and her family.. but to think that this happend to MILLIONS of people and ONLY 74 YEARS ago makes me sick to my stomach. Literally... I've been feeling like I wanna throw up for two days now (while reading as well) since I looked up more about it on wikepedia.

The sad part is that discrimination is very much still alive. Discrimination against LGBT, woman, different races, religion...

I find it so stupid honestly, do people not look at history and say, everyone deserves rights and freedom, this is not fair what happened to these people? I just realised how much I hate this world. It is sad that some people have no empathy and can not realise that discriminating someone who is born some kind of way is not ok..

(I also watched some video on youtube about some Islamic guy saying he wants Islamic law in Canada that wouldn't allow LGBT and would execute everyone who was LGBT..) Sometimes I don't get it.. why can't we all live in peace no matter who we are. I guess I will never know.

Just wanted to put that out somehwere :P

Yeah I agree - I think people just seek out differences between themselves and others and are fuelled by greed / power and fame. They neither see nor care what impact they have on others. Unfortunately a lot of people don't like to think for themselves - and as can be seen on this website they seem to think jumping on the bandwagon of hatred is the way to go.

Also I think the whole thing on the Islamic guy wanting that is kind of inaccurate (i'm not like 100% familiar but I'm pretty sure Islamic law doesnt actually say that). I'm sure you could find many extreme Christians or atheists with similar thought processes / beliefs very easily. Unfortunately Muslims are getting a bad rep for the actions of a handful of psychos, so I'd be a litttleeee careful about how I word those things because many people who read things like that start stereotyping a lot and assume things (meanwhile when a white man does something similar, it is considered him having "a mental illness" whereas any minority - blacks, middle easterns, hispanics, natives are considered terrorists or criminals for the same thoughts or actions). In the end all these people who say messed up things have a messed up world view and even if they throw religion around if you actually look into it they're completely incorrect in what they say.

Anyway I know it's kind of sucky seeing all of this discrimination in the world. I think the best thing to do is go out of your way to lead by example. I always just hope someone will see how I behave and subconsciously make an improvement in their own behaviour (the same way i try to when I see someone with more respectable behaviour than I exhibit)

Discrimination has, and always will be a thing. And if the people that are being discriminated against now ever have equal rights, we will find a new discrimination to discriminate people because that's what makes the world go round. 'The wheels on the bus' etc.

Kind of off topic but I was shocked to learn that Anne Frank and Martin Luther King Jr were born in the same year. I thought Anne lived her life much earlier than MLK Jr.

Good blog. Plussed.

kindred7 That was VERY WELL SAID! Loved it. By the islamic law, I don't have anything against Islam. Just like I don't want anyone discriminating me for being Bisexual, I would NEVER discriminate muslims (I have muslim friends) but that guy did say something about islamic law and that killing gay, bisexual and other people part of LGBT is part of some kind of law there.. Not really sure what he meant. But it is just shocking to me that he would say that IN CANADA aka one of the most liberal countries out there that accepted him and he still doesn't give love to others even though Canada gives love to him, since he "escaped" his country and they accepted him there. (Sorry sometimes I don't express myself in the best way since english isn't my first or even second language, but I think you know what I mean)..

I totally agree with everything you said and I am glad there are some people on this site who are grown up enough to talk about subjects like that. And yeah.. I guess we just have to live our lifes and show others what love really means!

DracoMalfoy Hey! Thank you :) And I totally agree with what you said as well. I am from Slovenia and I am not openly bisexual. In Slovenia LGBT still doesn't have the same rights (we still can't marry or adopt in same sex couples, which sucks.. I feel like I was born in a wrong place, like I don't belong here).. We even held a refferendum in 2015 and majority voted AGAINST it, which sucks even more since that means people are still very much against that here.

I really wanna escape to like Canada or Netherlands or somewhere more accepting and open minded and this book by Anne Frank just inspired me a lot to fight more against discrimination of any kind.

Hi JoeDaManXD, thanks for the reply
You sound like a cool and grounded person. My advice to you is: It's not the country that makes the person, it's the person that makes the person. You would still be you whether you were born in Slovenia, Canada or the Netherlands (although I completely understand your sense of 'not belonging' in your own country when your own people has effectively voted against your rights to live your life openly). I would want to move too in that scenario and I think you should look into it someday, when you are able and have the means to do so. You only have one life, life is not a dress rehearsal, life is a real and one time thing, and you deserve to live yours to the fullest, so I say go for it. I'd be supporting you all the way. Good luck dude! :)

JoeDaManXD yeah no don’t worry i didn’t think you thought anything negative about Islam at all - I just think many terrorists and crazy people incorrectly quote its laws (I saw a documentary where some hostages say their captors were not religious at all - they use their religion as a way to find common ground to gather more followers into their messed up factions)

But yeah I was really happy to see your blog! Most of the blogs aren’t really thought provoking and I enjoy these discussions. They’re important and it’s so nice to see that you care about the world and what is going on in it. <3 So thank you for the post!!

Also what’s your first language?? You totally fooled me and I thought english was your first language LOL. You speak it very well

DracoMalfoy I agree about that, but it's not really about the laws or something. I wanna adopt in the future if I am in a relationship with a guy and this country doesn't allow me to do that, but other than that.. poeople here still are pretty traditional and look at you differently for being gay or bi or whatever. Plus, NO one is literally out here. Yes there are a few people, but most people are not out here (I literally know of one gay person that is openly out and I do know a lot of people) so it is really, really hard to meet people like myself, so I often feel very lonely.

And yes, we all have one life and we should do what makes us happy, thank you for those words :) I am currently at university, so I will have to finish that first before going somewhere else. I might do exchange year next year in Canada or Netherlands (at least thats the plan) and see where it goes from there! Thank you for your support, I am glad to hear I have someone supporting me. And good luck to you as well, you seem like a really nice guy!

But yeah I’m from Canada and I think there’s a lot of diversity here and a lot of acceptance

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who are still very ignorant and intolerant of races, sexuality, and any difference they see between themselves and others :( BUT the vast majority of time that’s not the case

Kindred7 Yes I do care about the world a little too much sometimes, since a lot of things I read bring me down. I feel like less you are thinking and reading about stuff, better you feel. And I agree, it is a shame people are not talking about these stuff more!

I am from Slovenia, so my first language is Slovenian. My second one is Italian, since I live close to the Italian boarder and part of my family is Italian. I learned english by TV shows and at school, but lately I've been reading only english books (Like Anne's diary and now I started to read a book called Blue Investor, a book about economy and investing, since I am a business and econ major)..

Thank you btw! And you seem like a great person, glad I met you :)

Kindred7 yeah I believe there are still some ignorant and intolerant people in Canada, people like that are everywhere I guess which sucks :/... But I also heard that Canada is one of the most liberal and open minded countries in the world besides Spain/Netherlands.. Is that true, since you live there? :)
