depends on context

"That ball just about got in the net"
"That ball barely got in the net"

but if its like

"I just came home now"
" I barely came home now" doesn't make sense

that's my weak attempt at explaining this lol

Iceey that's why I said context lol, here in the UK just about counts as barely. It got in the net but almost missed is what just about means
