Super Smash Bros. 30 Day Challenge (Day 4) May 31, 2014
Melee will always be that game that introduced some questionable characters and clones, like Dr. Mario, Young Link, the Ice Climbers, Mr. Game & Watch, and a certain someone who I despise so much I will get to later in the challenge.  While that certain someone is still unfortunately wasting space on the Brawl roster, thankfull y some of the questionable choices are gone, though Young Link was pretty much just replaced with Toon Link, and some of Brawl’s additions made me wonder what went wrong with the world.  So I guess now would be a good time to get into today’s entry.

Day 4 - Favorite Melee character.

For this one, despite there being some horrible additions to the roster, thankfully we have light at the end of the tunnel with the 2 contenders for this spot, which are Marth and Mewtwo.  In fact, I love them both.  With that in mind, I am actually going to be nice and let them share the spotlight.

Marth is quick and nimble, my character of choice when I went to play with swords.  He has a romantic air about that makes him a graceful character.  In fact, he’s probably the most graceful character in any Smash game.  Also, unlike the other 2 Fire Emblem characters we have had so far, Marth does not hurt himself when charged to full power.  He has an awesome Final Smash that is, in most instances, a OHKO.  The only downside to that Final Smash is that since it is linear, if you’re not careful, you will lose a life.  Still, I heard Fire Emblem is losing spots with the next game, so with that in mind, I really do hope they keep Marth despite this.

Mewtwo is a legendary Pokemon, so aready that makes him one of the most anticipated characters to play as.  Sure, he could have been better when the developers made him, but let’s focus on the good parts.  He’s funny when he holds some of the items, like the hammer, which would make one think he was using a phone if they didn’t know any better.  He can attack from the air, ground, wherever.  He is also the ONLY character that I was able to actually to finish Melee’s Race to the Finish with ALL THE WAY TO THE END.  This is because his jump is AMAZING.  Too bad he didn’t make it onto Brawl, but the character that replaced him I will talk about another time.

So yeah, Marth and Mewtwo both make it onto Day 4, and yes, I picked 2 characters.  Nobody said I couldn't.  That being said, I have looked at the rest of the days for this challenge and I can safely say that I won't be picking more than 2 characters for ANY day, though there will be such a tough decision to make that will about a week from today's entry.

Super Smash Bros. 30 Day Challenge (Day 3) May 30, 2014
Okay, blogging my Day 2 entry while everyone else was at school because I’m a thirsty 23-year-old shithead probably wasn’t such a good idea, but whatever.  We have 28 more days of this challenge to do and I have to get going to work anyway, so let’s just get on with Day 3.

Day 3 - Favorite boss.

I am disqualifying Tabuu, aka the Silver Surfer, for this one.  We know he’s an awesome boss, even though he’s hard as hell and has magical powers out the wazoo, so I feel like choosing him would be a copout.  So, then, who IS my favorite Super Smash Bros. boss?  My choice actually goes to Galleom from Brawl!

He is the only boss you fight in 2 different arenas in the Subspace Emissary (Ridley does not count since he has 2 forms), but that’s not why.  You guys might hate me for this, but I love Michael Bay’s Transformers films.  In fact, I love the films so much that I am actually forcing my mom to drive me to the premiere the night it opens.  But what does Transformers have to do with Galleom, you might ask?  Well, much like a Transformer transforms into machines whenever they have to hide in disguise, Galleom can transform into a tank-like hovercraft whenever he needs to travel, and then when he’s ready to fight, you can see his true body.  His roars make him so lifelike, unlike Duon who is probably a mute, and he not only has a wide range of attacks, but he isn’t slow, so he makes for a good boss fight.

Of course, the fact that Brawl came out not too long after Transformers will forever make me think that Michael Bay should have cast Galleom in Transformers.

Super Smash Bros. 30 Day Challenge (Day 2) May 29, 2014
For some of us, Day 1 is done and you’re moving onto Day 2.  For some others, I’ll pretty much be putting up Day 3 before you write up your first entry.  Well, regardless of whether or not your other blog, or my blog for that matter, expires because I just don’t give a fuck as long as I can do all 30 days and complete the challenge, I’m moving on to Day 2.  So, without further ado, here we go.

Day 2 - Favorite stage.

Port City Aero Dive (Brawl)

Personally, I love all the F-Zero stages because it opens up a whole new can of worms with the F-Zero machines.  In fact, Big Blue was a contender that I came close to choosing for this slot because you can actually fight on top of the machines.  But what makes Aero Dive my favorite, even though it’s technically an evolved form of Melee’s Mute City, is that the stage has so many tiers that you can never quite get used to the environment, not to mention that whatever tier you fight on is, in its own right, unpredictable, which makes this stage such a fun ride.

The F-Zero machines are a real hazard too, unlike some sissy hazards you see in other stages.  If you’re tiny as fuck, your ass is gone into the next century if you’re standing too close to the ground, as well as if you get hit like 2 or 3 times at normal height.  Pretty much the only time you can withstand the F-Zero machine hazards without some sort of temporary invincibility like having just been resurrected or picking up a star is if you’re a giant or metal, but then that opens you up to fall a lot when it’s time to haul ass onto the moving platform so you don’t get KO’ed.  With this stage, you are never safe, even when your opponents are trying to recover from a KO.

This was a playable course in F-Zero GX too, though this wasn’t even close to my favorite stage in that game (THAT honor goes to Aeropolis Dragon Slope).  And speaking of F-Zero GX, that was a pretty fun game in itself and broke me away from Mario Kart as far as racing games go, even though Mario Kart will always be a BAMF!  < 3

But yeah, Aero Dive makes it on my Day 2 entry.

Super Smash Bros. 30 Day Challenge (Day 1) May 28, 2014
So, as many of you weirdos on Tengaged know, Super Smash Bros. 4 is coming out this summer on the 3DS, which I will be all up on to get.  The Wii U version won't be available till the winter, so if you have a Wii U, you will have to wait unless you also have a 3DS.  So to celebrate its upcoming release, I will be doing this 30 Day Challenge, along with a few others.

Day 1 - Favorite Smash game

Honestly, this is probably a close one between Melee and Brawl, and I love all 3 games.  However, this game had more fun memories for me, so I’m going with…

Brawl!

I love Melee for it’s Race to the Finish feature, and I’m sad that they took that away in Brawl, but Brawl had so many more options to choose from that you never had in the other 2 games.  You could co-op in events, you can co-op in adventure mode, the Subspace Emissary made Adventure Mode much more fun (unlike that crap that was basically Classic Mode in Melee), and I loved being able to actually CREATE my own stages.

My personal favorite creation of my own was this one stage where I had this death trap inside of a pyramid, and if you got trapped, you were either mauled by spikes or KO’ed while the other players smart enough to stay out of the trap could just relax and kill each other on the steps.

And another thing I was pleasantly surprised with were the addition of third-party characters.  I’m surprised they added Snake, who was originally supposed to appear in Melee, but the creators didn’t have the time to get him in Melee, so he made a guest appearance in Brawl.  They didn’t overload in the third-party characters, keeping that Nintendo feel that makes Super Smash Bros. so great every time.

So yeah, my favorite Super Smash Bros. game was Brawl.
