ASPIRATION / INSPIRATION

Welcome to the final 6.

You guys have delivered intense rounds of double submissions all game, just last round getting a  break in the form of a single submission. Well, once again we are only asking for a single submission. However, that means you’re only getting one shot to bring your A GAME with this song.

Please submit a song that captures the essence of something you aspire to or a song that inspires you or both, as these often intertwine.

I want to see LYRICS come through especially in this round. I have to hear that inspiring message or I have to be able to see what your goal/aspiration is. Of course you know vocals are always important with me & how the music sounds and fits with a song as well - so let’s see what you can bring for this. My example submission would be: “Well Done” - The Afters. It’s pretty & emotionally powerful while showing an aspiration - living well & meeting God in Heaven. Of course, I anticipate your songs will focus on life & not the end of it LOL.

Blu’s VanitySmurf example submission would be “The World’s Greatest” - R Kelly. This song is aspiring and inspiring at the same time. Although this artist may not have the best image at the moment, the artistry is undeniable. I’ve had some huge struggles in life and many obstacles to have overcame. It’s been a long journey for me and I’m still a work in progress, but this song always motivates me to keep striving to be greater.

I chose Lukas Graham’s “7 years.” This song is a timeline of sorts of life and how short it can be. And what I take from it is inspiration to strive to live a life that one day, very soon, I’ll be able to look back on and be proud of..

I'm picking Kintsugi by Gabrielle Alpin for this theme. Kintsugi is a Japanese art that mends broken pottery back together and then paints the cracks with gold or other colors, making it beautiful again. From the wiki page: "it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise." Basically this song just reminds me that all the obstacles and times I feel broken shouldn't just get me down but I should use those times I feel broken to build myself back up and keep going being those broken times are what makes us who we are.

Point of No Return - STARSET

This song is one that captures my rage of wanting to get to a better place, to that place where I want to be fully healed that there’s no chance I can sink back in who I used to be. These lyrics hit me to the core so much and where I want to be, to be able to let go and burn the bridges of the past to move forward and enjoy the path ahead of me. Sometimes I think I’m there but I know I’m not yet and that’s why this was the absolute best song choice for me because the delivery of the song makes me want to scream it out and release my frustration and rage of being stuck. And yet it is inspiring to me because it’s hope for the future that I can get there and want to and releasing these emotions is healing too. Anyways LOL long rant done, I feel like this one is a big risk because it's a heavy one but I gotta stick to what inspires me :P lyrics are in the youtube description box if you want to take a look while listening

Inspiration: Invisible - Zara Larsson

I found this song as I was watching the animated movie Klaus, which spoke highly of the generosity of human kind and how the world would be bland without it. The world deserves kindness, no matter who they are, and it inspires me to bring joy to everyone around me wherever I go. It's always worth it to bring a little positivity to people's lives, whether it being greeting them at school or making them smile with some quirk, that's my style. The production of this song is fantastic too, along with Zara's smooth, angelic voice make for an amazing end result.

Learn to Live - Darius Rucker

Now I’m a little out of my comfort zone with this since I don’t listen to much country. However this song has always resonated with me. That being said, I think this song not only has an inspiring story, but also a clear message. Don’t be afraid to take chances in life, because that’s the only way you’ll enjoy it. I’m not a risk-taker (like at all lol) however I aspire to be more willing to take chances. This song just reminds me that it’s ok to step out of my comfort zone and if I make a mistake it won’t be the end of the world. In fact, making mistakes is actually a necessary part of life as long as you learn from them. I hope to one day be more comfortable with this.
