You'll see my feedback first and then Blu's VanitySmurf

CarolinaSteele : One Day The Only Butterflies Left Will Be In Your Chest As You March Towards Your Death (Bring Me The Horizon feat. Amy Lee)

- Oofdah, mouthful of a title lol. This song has a beautiful sound to it. I was shook when the guy's voice came in! Idk why I just wasn't expecting that. I think the little yelling bit he did was questionable but otherwise vocally I really enjoyed, ESPECIALLY when they came together, their voices mixed together so well! The emotion definitely was able to come through the voice and the lighter sound definitely gives way to a creepier/uneasy sound towards the end but still a beautiful piano, which was a great progression and peeling away. Now, I do appreciate the hidden meaning lyrically about the environment even though I personally think it works better as a song about a failing relationship. (9/10)

Control (Halsey)

- This song definitely does give off powerful vibes and their is a hint of triumphant at the end which is a nice bow to wrap it up with. I do think it's a nice song on the album to accompany Castle even if it contradicts it (fearing her vs wanting her as queen). Lyrically I always found it kind of odd but at the same time very intriguing and for that reason it has been one of my other Badlands favorites. (9/10)

Carolina Steele- Kirsten you surprised me most this round, you’ve had good song choices in the past rounds but this round both songs were dynamic. I loved the mix of the vocals in the first one and how powerful and grungy the song was. Also, with you choosing a Halsey song, I actually preferred this to the example song (no shade noelle) I just really like Halsey and thought it was a great mix of power and the pain that comes along with it. Overall I give you a 10 on the first song 9 on the second song.

smi9127 : these are my friends (lovelytheband)

- I think this is a great fit for the theme. My interpretation is that his "friends" are his mental health struggles, like depression, anxiety, whatever they may be. I really need to explore lovelytheband more because this song has such an interesting sound to it and they have another song that I really enjoy. The only thing that I would critique about this song is it's repetitiveness BUT I can excuse that for this song given its about mental health and I think that was purposeful to because of how mundane life can be. (9/10)

Royalty (Egzod & Maestro Chives)

- PEEEEERIOD! You. Understood. The. Assignment. My favorite submission twice in a row! This song is EXACTLY the type of song I wanted to hear. Powerful, triumphant, we get some war vibes, it's about ROYALTY like YES. My only critique is that her vocals get a little drowned out by the music at some parts of the song & I would have preferred louder vocals but I mean I looked into the artists & I know they make more like electronic stuff so oh well that's just how it is. (10/10).

Smi9127- song one, i thought was a cool song choice. A little repetitive to me, upbeat yes, but it wasn’t as catchy to me. I can see where you got the mental health thought from bc the video and the vibes does give that feeling, so kudos for that. Song two, YES, this was great, it was so alluring and mesmerizing, that beat went super hard, and this song was catchy sir. Very powerful & commanding. Scores 7.5 & 10

tbrown_47 : Idea of Her (Whitney Woerz)

- This is a cute pop song and it is really close to the theme but the song just doesn't dig deep enough. It starts too but it stays pretty surface level. (7/10)

The Wind That Carries Me Away (AFI)

- I liked the chorus, unfortunately that's all. I don't know what's going on outside of the chorus but it gets a little overwhelming for most of it. I get the vibe you were going for but I'm not sure that an outsider really works well with the theme. (5/10)

Tbrown_47- song one, This was a cool song, I like the production of it and how catchy the lyrics were. To me this makes me think of Dollhouses using beauty to mask something deeper within. Song two, I like your take on it and it does give me like headless horseman or rebel knight in castle vibes. Wasn’t my favorite choice to listen too but I like that it wasn’t a normal castle song for me, personally, because I like out of the box submissions. Scores 8 & 8
---

boysofsummer2005 : Chandelier (Sia)

- This is a great song for this theme. Party song but it is actually a mask for depression, alcoholism, & rumored to hint at suicide? I'm not sure about the legitimacy of that last one but there is definitely darkness behind this song. I don't have much to say except I hate that she's hard to understand at some parts. It's a great song. (9/10)

Armies (KB)

- Very interesting interpretation of the theme. I think some of the most repetitive lyrics were the weakest but otherwise I was really surprised by the song. (7.5/10)

Boysofsummer2005- song one, maybe a cliche of a song because its so highly recognizable but you cant deny the talent, the vulnerability, the rawness, and sorrowfulness of this song. It’s one of my favorite songs too. Another song choice about covering up an addiction, so well done. Song two, you took a risk by bringing a christian song into sort a dark theme but I think it worked perfectly because it portrayed the theme of power, support of  armies of angels, and just total control when the King, God is on your side. I also like the hook of the song too and the verses. Scores 8 & 8.5
---

abstractjay : the last great american dynasty (Taylor Swift)

- I had to look up the song to understand what was going on because the end confused me LMAO & even then the lyrics didn't realllly make a lot of sense to me I had to read all the annotations. The song is good, the lines blurring between reality/fiction and their lives was a little oof though. Your little write up made me think the narrative was going to switch and she was going to tell her side of the story or something because I thought it was fiction. (7/10)

Radioactive (Imagine Dragons)

- Definitely an iconic song. We love a post-apocalyptic revolution vibe. (8/10)

Abstractjay- first song, Taylor is so talented and this beat & chords throughout was such a vibe. It was actually soothing and made you really listen to and appreciate the lyrics. I love the simplicity of the song. I think the message of the song was great too.  Song two, another popular song a bit overplayed but everything you stated about that apocalyptic feel was head on. Breaking out of that society & no longer living under those guidelines, ready for war and exuding power, I thought fit the theme. Scores 9 & 7.5
---

hayden9102 : Can't Feel My Face (The Weeknd)

- I think you understood the theme really well and the song matches it but the song itself is really generic. (6.5/10)

This is Me (Keala Settle)

- I appreciate you wanting to think outside of the box but I wish you would have sent a song more so about a literal kingdom, hence why I picked Castle as my example song & I adorned my gif with a castle, a throne, swords, a crown, & a guillotine. I was being very literal lol. This song was okay though. (7/10)

Hayden9102- song one, ive heard this song so many times but didn’t take the time to interpret the lyrics and his love song twist on this was incredible. Lots of talent from this artist that shows throughout this song. It has a great chorus too and i love the build up. Song two, i love the greatest showman, another contestant submitted this song in another round we had but i won’t dock you for that. I love the triumphant feeling you get from this song when they come together to fight against the prejudices of society against them. It’s very unifying and war esque taking a stand against evil. Scores 8.5  & 8
---

Becksta20 : Pumped Up Kicks (Foster the People)

- I think it's so fucked up that they ever made this song LMAO. I think it's a good fit for the theme but it's really hard to understand for me outside of the chorus and the chorus itself is really repetitive. (7.5/10)

Castles (Freya Ridings)

- Lol interesting choice to pick a song named Castles. I LOVED the vocals of the pre-chorus specifically, she slayed that, I wanted to point that out. I really enjoyed the sound of this song and her voice overall was solid. I do get a triumphant vibe here but that's it...I'm not sure it fits the theme really. (8/10)

Becksta20- first song, i use to hear this on the radio but never knew who song it. Did not even think of the darker meaning behind this song, never knew that so well done on the song choice theme,  bc the song is so catchy and actually relaxing. It can get a little too repetitive  though. Song two, a bit bold to choose a song titled castle for castles theme lol but i liked it. I like the uniqueness of the vocals and blend of the BG. It had a good beat to it & easy to interpret. The artist has one of the voices that you will either love or hate, in this song I felt she gave off Queen vibes which was great. Scores 8 & 8
---

kevrev4 : Paper Love (AllieX)

- I'm not sure this song does much hiding of it's meaning, I feel like it's pretty out in the open for most of it but at the same time some of it felt nicely masked so I don't know. I don't think it gets dark enough though. (7/10)

Queendom (Aurora)

- I wanted to like this more because of the lyrics but vocally...it didn't bring quite what I wanted, I did not find this to be as powerful or triumphant as it could have been, but it will suffice on the triumphant sounding part. Although the acceptance theme in the song was cute it wasn't quite the theme of the round. (7/10)

Kevrev4- song one, i love the intro on this, baby when she came in with that whistle note that not everyone can do, i was already hooked. Everything about this song had me hooked. The lyrics, the beat, the chorus, the creativity of the video. This was really good, so interesting. Song two, fit the theme well idk it made me feel dizzy though, not sure if it was the production or her voice, but I guess it was that magical feel. I love the message and how powerful she becomes once everyone joins forces with her. Scores 9.5 & 8

Unfortunately, you two on the bottom here will be going to a Sudden Death round.

You guys both went for out of the box submissions for Castle and while out of the box has it's place, it wasn't this round. So for Sudden Death, I'm asking you to redo Castle knowing it was literal, and now you have another great example in Royalty!

Good luck guys! Ask if you have any questions.

Not castles again. I didn’t like either of the example songs 😂

I’ll have to see what’s left in my bag of tricks. Good luck hayden9102

Heavy Is The Crown- Daughtry

So I’ve always been a big Daughtry fan, and then he came out with a few new songs this year. When I first listened to this one, I thought that it was a cool song and saved it for later. After listening to it again I realize that it fits the theme really well, while also being a banger. Hope you like it!

My swan song. I think this is a great battle and makes me feel triumphant when I listen to it.

We've made our decision!

My feedback - this song was a great match! Like I said the first time around I was a little stumped that you purposefully sort of went around the theme initially so I wanted to challenge you to submit a song to the theme again even though it was hard, and you succeeded really well. I personally am not the biggest rock fan so I don't like the yelling sort of delivery here lol but I did really like the lyrics.

Blu's / VanitySmurf - I enjoyed the rawness and the soundtrack.

Unfortunately leaving us tonight, tbrown_47

My feedback - well that was a quick turnaround, king. A better match to the theme than your original submission but not quite on the level that was sought. I'm sorry you didn't like the round & the battle back clearly came at a rough time for you LOL. Thank you for trying and playing though <3

Blu's - I enjoyed the vulnerability and testimony.

-

Blu said overall that he was at a stalemate and he leaned on me for final feedback. Blinkz.
