Kara wakes up in a dimly light apartment with the curtains closed and a smoke clouding the small apartment created from the cigarettes she had been smoking throughout the night. The room is engulfed in smoking equipment including bongs and full ash-trays. Her hair is messed and fluffed from the position she had been sleeping. As her eyes adjust the light in the room, she finds a young man underneath her, bare chested, the smell of tobacco and weed on his breathe. The last night seems a haze to her as she pulls her strapped bra back over her shoulder and fixes her appearance within a minute. It is obvious she had slept with this man. She walks over to the curtains and slowly creates a gap to peak through. At first, her eyes reject the morning sunlight and she gasps, forced to look away. But once she looks for a second time, her eyes scatter across the city skyline of Louisville. As her eyes glance down to the street 10 floors below, it is full of citizens trying to make ends-meat in the city. Going to work, meeting friends at the local coffee shop or selling illegal things to passers-by. But one particular person catches her eye. A strange man with a hooded-jumper covering his hair. He is dressed fairly casually, as if he was a teenager before. But he seems lifeless… unaware of what is happening. But their eyes catch, and the boys eyes on the street are filled with blood and his face pure white. Kara immediately draws for the curtains in shock, and stumbles back a little, but ultimately shakes the strange experience off.
“Ugh, baby get back in bed…” the man groans, obviously still deep in his sleep. Kara takes this opportunity to grab his wallet on the side, taking a £20 note and leaving the apartment.

“That’s all today class! Don’t forget you homework Monday Todd or I will actually kill you,”
“Alright Mr Q, I won’t!”
Stanley Quentin shuffles through some papers on his desk in an empty classroom, marking the papers with a red pen, until he gets an unexpected phone call.
“Hello? Yes, this is he. Yeah, she’s my wife,” Stanley answers. There is suddenly a drop in his facial expression and a delayed pause.
“I’ll go right home.”

In The Ferguson home, a dark atmosphere is present. The home is a bungalow, lacking windows so the house is naturally dim. Charlotte sits in a ray of light, her back up against a cupboard in the kitchen. She sobs quietly, with two empty wine bottles at her feet as she weeps into her knees. She has been up drinking… all night.
Her phone rings, and her son’s face appears on the screen. But she cannot bring herself to answer. It can be seen that she has 7 miss calls from Jesse Ferguson.
“I’m sorry…” she cries, “I didn’t mean it.”
The phone continues to ring, and her tolerance level gets shorter.
“Get away from me you fucking disgrace!” Charlotte is forced by her emotions to launch the phone at the wall, braking it. After a moment, she raises her face to see the damage and sinks back into a depressed state.
“I didn’t… mean… I just…” She cannot finish her sentences.

The local school canteen is crowded with students, queues and tables. Payton and a group of her friends are gathered around a table while her brother, Adrian, can clearly be seen playing soccer out the large window on the playground.
“I know right, that was in, like, so 10 days ago!” One of her friends giggle.
“Hey, does anyone know where Kasey is today?” Payton asks, twirling her food on her plate with her fork. Her face expressed seriousness.
“Why, so you can buy some weed? I thought you quit that stuff?” One of her friend’s ask with a tone of humour. Payton does not look impressed. “She got attacked by some homeless guy. She was told to have a few days off by the school.”
This thought seemed imprinted on her mind. She continued eating her food as the other girls chatted and laughed. Her mind just wasn’t at that canteen table after that comment.

Quinton is walking towards the music block, slowly, with depression glooming over his face. His hair is dyed mainly black, with strains of sky blue. He walks with his head held low; a music book in one arm.
“Hey! Shithead!” A voice shouts. Before Quinton can turn to face the insult, a football hits his gut, forcing him to curl into a ball on the floor. It was the football team.
“A music book? How fucking beautiful!” They laugh, while one of them continue to kick him in the stomach.
“Where’s your daddy now? Huh?” They continue to dish out insults, but they have finished physically hurting him. They laugh and chuckle to themselves as they walk off past him, leaving him to stabilize himself and pick up his music book. A takes him a few moments as his stomach is bruised badly and his lip is bleeding. Shortly after, Ikaris walks outside.
“Oh my God, Quin,” Ikaris gasps, running out to see what happened, “what happened to you? Was it the football team again?”
“You said you’d be there for me!” Quin cries, wiping the dirt of his music book. He does not bother stopping his lip from bleeding. This has happened to him to many times to care.
“I… I… I was just doing work in the math…”
“YOU PROMISED! You said you’d stop them from doing that to me,” Quin wipes his eyes, shaking off the experience and continues heading towards the music block. Ikaris stands behind him, frozen. After a few moments, Ikaris responds.
“…I’m sorry.”
“Yeah, well, Dad made a better father than you did, so don’t bother trying anymore.”

“Julia!” Stanley shouts, entering his large home to find his wife pale, with a needle and drugs on the coffee table.
“They fired me, Stanley. They fucking fired me,” Julia weeps, holding her eyes to her hands to stop the tears. Stanley quickly grabs the drugs off the table and throws them into the trash. He gives no sympathy to his wife.
“Aren’t you going to say something?” She asks, raising her head.
“Yeah. If you don’t stop this shit, I’m sending you to rehab.”
“Stanley!” Julia cries.
“I can’t do this anymore Julia! I understand your father just died but you CANNOT do this while Payton and Adrian are around! Do you understand what sort of influence this will have on them? We almost lost our daughter to this kind of crap,”
“I’ll stop, I promise… I’m sorry,” she continues to weep. Hugging her knees, she does not move out of the foetal position.
“Come on, go have a shower and sort yourself out.”

Josh is seen lying in bed, with a white blanket over his body. He has lost all of his hair due to treatment, and is not faring well at the moment with cancer. He looks fairly weak and is no longer able to support himself. He lives with his older sister, Missy, who takes care of him while her husband and daughter are at work. The room he is sleeping in is not an ordinary bedroom. It appears to be part of the garage, although it has heating to keep him warm. He appears to be watching a cooking show.
“Josh? You awake?” Missy whispers into the room, only the door slightly opening.
“Yeah,” he says. His voice has a gravelly texture to it.
“I brought you your favourite,” she smiles, placing a bowl onto his lap. “It’s oxtail soup. That is your favourite right?” It takes Josh a moment to zone in on the question and situation.
“No, tomato is, but you make great oxtail soup.”
“Nope. I won’t settle for second best! I’ll make you a new one,” Missy grins, taking the plate away.
“You really don’t have to do that. I’m too hungry to wait for another,” Josh pleads. Missy seems disappointed in herself. She initially hesitates, sighs, then puts the bowl back on his lap.
“I’m sorry Josh,” she says with a poignant look on her face. Josh seems hurt by Missy’s sadness, and attempts to cheer her up.
“Missy, stop. You let me live in your house for free. I couldn’t ask for a better sister.”
“I love you so much,” Missy smiles, hugging and kissing Josh’s forehead. She doesn’t let him see, but a tear rolls down her eye, knowing that he cannot beat the inevitable.

Lee jumped out of the back seat of a police car, in uniform, along with 2 other colleagues.
“Reporting in, no sign of the suspect,” the male officer reports.
“Listen Carter, you follow our orders, okay?” the female voice states. Lee nods, following their lead through the rusty, old trailer park by the side of the river. Some of the citizens that lived in the trailers occasionally peaked between the curtains and through their windows. They seemed terrified.
“Carter, you go left. We’ll go right,” the female officer demands. Lee nods, following a dirt track, leading to a thin gap between the back of a trailer and a wooden fence. Lee felt a little nervous passing through. If the reports of a cannibalistic murderer in this area is true, then he did not want to fall victim to him.
Lee squeezed through the gap between the trailer and fence, leading him to a vegetable garden. He had lost all sight of the other two officers. He felt isolated as the nearby trailers formed a sort of box around him. It was slightly windy, and quiet, blowing the plants growing from the dirt slightly. There should be at least 30 people living in this site, so either they are hiding or gone. Something definitely was not settling about the atmosphere of this trailer park.
“AHHHHHH!” Lee hears a male scream and sprints to it instantly. After a few turns and jumps, there is an open space of gravel. There was a strange man sinking his teeth into the male officer’s arm, ripping a chunk of flesh from his body, causing the officer to fall to the ground in extreme pain. The female officer does not hesitate are waste time hand-cuffing the man. She instead puts a bullet straight through the cannibal’s head, sending him to the ground. The bullet noise echoes across the park.
“Fuck,” the female officer sighs while the male officer stands back up, trying to remain posture, “he wouldn’t listen to us. Something was seriously wrong with that man.”
Lee looks into the dead man’s eyes, and they are bloodshot. His skin appeared to be… rotting.
“I dunno. Something doesn’t seem normal. Maybe we should let Charlene have a look at this,” Lee asks, looking between the officers and the body.
“Ugh… yeah okay, if you think it’s best Carter… SHIT!” The female officer sighs again, “I’ve never shot a man like that before.”

Justyn, a young teenager, wakes up inside his bare bedroom inside the orphanage. The room is white-washed, lacking any form of decoration. He realises he is late for school, but this was his intention. He wasn’t going to school, he was going to do volunteer work at the local animal shelter. So he puts on his work clothes, and sneaks out the window, jumping across a few short roof tops and into the back alleys of the city. It is clear that he has done this many times before.
The animal shelter is only a 5 minute walk. Nobody recognizes who he is as no one is aware of his job at the shelter. He essentially lives a double life. After walking through a short woodland in the city, he reaches the animal shelter. Rather than indoors, most of the cages are outdoors with a metal panel covering them to protect the animals from harsh weather. Mainly dogs and cats.
“Hey buddy,” Justyn smiles, going up to a familiar dog. An Alsatian. The dog seems very excited to see him, sprinting around the large cage and rapidly licking Justyn’s hand. Justyn rises realising that the cage next to his is open, and his boss is nowhere to be seen. It felt awfully quiet.
Justyn searches the animal shelter grounds for a little while, until he hears a strange cry in the woods. It sounded like a small dog. His love for animals forced him to run into a small clump of trees, isolating him from the city. But what he found was horrifying. Justyn dropped his hands to his side and his jaw feel wide open. Fear spread across his face. He had found his boss pulling the fresh, steamy, bloody innards of a small dog out of its stomach and into her mouth. His boss seemed delusional and blank of expression and personality. Justyn’s breathing got faster, but he covered his mouth to prevent this… thing… from haring him. After a few moments, his boss raised her head slow-like to his position. Upon seeing him, her teeth gnashed and chunks of flesh were caught in her teeth. Although pale, her skin looked young and fresh. Only dead.

Missy and Josh's seen made me cry, it was so emotional, it remind me of my younger sister and brother, always protecting each other its cute and adorable. I couldn't ask for a better intro.
Sent by RyanAndrews,Mar 6, 2016
RyanAndrews did you legit cry???
Btw if these characters are based of real life people, I'm sorry :( I can understand how that would be very emotional.
Sent by HaloKing,Mar 6, 2016
HaloKing No no, my brother never had cancer, my sister just always looked after him, it was based on them, but I exaggerated! My brother and sister Missy and Josh are alive and well. But I cried because cancer has taken many people important to me out of my life.
Sent by RyanAndrews,Mar 6, 2016
RyanAndrews okay and sorry to hear that! I hope the cancer in my story isnt too much to handle because I do plan to continue to involve the concept of cancer. If it ever gets too much then just mention, but in a positive way it may help draw you emotionally into my story :)
Sent by HaloKing,Mar 6, 2016
HaloKing It will, I don't mind the whole concept of cancer. I hope you continue with it!
