Language (French) and Lingustics with a minor in Tourism, except I'll probably end up working in tourism marketing or on heritage tourism projects, and a marketing degree would have given me all the knowledge I'd need to get into those industries, especially if I'd kept my tourism minor. But I didn't know what I wanted to do when I started uni two years ago :(
I think the language degree is far more useful than a marketing degree. You can pick up marketing much easier than a language. You made the right decision. Tres bein.
:p I completely disagree. I've enjoyed studying French but at the same time... if one really wants to learn a language, one takes an intensive introduction course, then moves to an environment where they can immerse themselves in the language. Which I'll be doing, I'm moving to France in September, but it's like... I could have done that when I left school. But then I wouldn't've got a degree this quickly and at least one degree is better than none, shows prospective employers that I'm capable of learning etc. I don't know. Quarter life crisis right now hahaha
At least I can just get my masters in a couple of years in tourism marketing or something like that =D
Well as someone who has been working for many years those with language degrees can find themselves working in marketing jobs far easier than those with marketing degrees can in a business that operates in different overseas markets. A language degree will help you stand out far more than a degree in marketing would/does.
Tbh, I'm really just venting at this assignment I'm completing right now, and I don't like one of my lecturers. She gave me a c-. Like... wtf I have a B+ average, I don't get c-s.... rude.
