Bells Palsy

Nov 25, 2012 by DragonJason
Bells Palsy, know what it is? It's this really annoying and terrible thing that can happen where a nerve in your face becomes inflamed, causing half of your face to go partially paralyzed. The treatment is steroids and antibiotics for about a week and a half. But the recovery time is anywhere from a week to a year. And sometimes it doesn't recover. They know some reasons it happens but not all. So it could happen to anyone anytime. I woke up and realized I couldn't puff up my right cheek, thats where it started.

I got Bells Palsy around November 4th. It truely did suck, you can feel everything, your not numb. But none of your muscles move at all, hence the partial paralysis. Eating can be sloppy with the right foods, drinking from a bottles not too fun. It even gets your tongue so its hard to lick your lips. Not being able to blink sucks hardcore, and not being able to control your tear ducts and constantly cry is obnoxious. Also theres constant soreness on the muscles, constant ear pain, and headaches. Which can lead to sleep deprivation. But those went away for me after a week and a half.

If you do have it, don't worry. It'll get better, I mean some people don't recover but most do. I've had it for 20ish days and am now able to partially smile and move most of my muscles. Tear ducts are still derp. And I still can't do a full smile, but its halfway there. At first I was depressed. I mean the thought of going through that for a whole year just terrified  me. But once I noticed the tiniest progress it made my day.

I dunno why I decided to blog this but I felt like it. xP
Plus I may inadvertantly help someone even in the slightest.

My ex-boyfriend's dad had this... We were going to go on a date but he had to cancel on me last minute to take him to the hospital before he got diagnosed. His was so bad that he passed out a few times. I'm glad you're doing better! :)

Passing out doesn't sound like fun. Was it from the shock?
Hope he's doing better as well.

I'm not sure why he passed out. I think it was from the shock. It was 2 years ago when it happened so he's fully recovered now.
