-The following events are in the moments before Ben gets shot-
-Bare with me this episode, there are alot of small rewind moments-

Liam spotted Wayne sitting on the front desk in the lobby. Luke and Alicia discussing something nearby, he propped himself up to sit beside him. Wayne paying him no mind as he ate his rations. Liam looked around before leaning in towards Wayne, "I found the damn gun on the second floor." Wayne stopped eating and put his bowl down beside him before turning to Liam. "I thought you we're a lawyer, how in the hell can you be so dumb." Liam just rolled his eyes. "So your telling me you didn't steal it and now you've magically found it? You know how stupidly fishy that sounds?" Liam nodded. "I do in fact. But your the only one who knew I wanted it back then. I camped out inside the room where I found it all night and practically all day waiting for the thief to come back and no one showed up." Wayne just growled in frustration. "This doesn't help your case at all." Liam growled back pounding his fist down into the desk. "Why in the hell would I tell you if it wasn't me? I'm telling you so you'll help me find out who it was. I don't trust that any of the others with this information."

[][]Two Weeks after finding the hospital[][]

"I'm off." Wayne said tossing his bag on shoulder heading for the front door to the hopsital. Falisha, Liam, and Ben we're getting ready for a run, Ben's head snapping to look at Wayne. "Alone?" he called out. Wayne shrugged, "Just checking the traps. Been doing it alone." Ben sighed, "We made the rule of no one going off alone for a reason. It's for everyone's safety." Ben looked over at Liam, "Go with him, I'll get Luke to take your place on the run." Liam shot him a dirty look. "Why me?" Ben shoved Liam his bag, "Because I asked nicely." Liam rolled his eyes, "Asked nicely my ass.." he mumbled as he followed after Wayne.

--

They we're in a tiny clearing in the nearby forest as Wayne knelt down checking the trap while Liam kept an eye out. "You can go back you know. I don't need your help." Liam chuckled. "Oh I'd love to but I don't feel like listening to Ben bitch and moan when he finds out I left you out here. Just hurry it up already." Wayne snorted glancing at Liam who was facing the opposite direction. "Your kind of a dick you know that?" Wayne couldn't see it but Liam just smiled, "So I'm told." Wayne grunted in annoyance as he stood. "Fine, just wait here. Only one more trap nearby I'll just be a minute."

Wayne stepped out of eye shot, he moved to a truck curiously placed in the middle of the woods. He opened the backdoor before opening his bag taking out some things and placing them in the truck. A twig snapped causing Wayne to turn and find two walkers heading his way. Hurrying he shut the door before going around the vehicle, unsheathing his knife he waited for them to near, when the first did he shoved the blade into it's skull. Pushing it over he readied for the second walker, but it wasn't there. He turned to his right as he heard it coming from the other side of the vehicle, he caught a glimpse just as it fell over. "So this is where you wandered off to huh?" Liam smirked wiping his machete against a tree wiping off the blood.

"This isn't what it looks like." Wayne said causing Liam to grin. "What? That your stealing supplies and stocking them out here for your own personal stash? No I'm sure that's not what's happening." The obnoxious sarcastic tone already giving Wayne a headache. "That's one way of looking at it. I only take a little at a time, and only parts of the supplies I find on runs, and nothing we actually need or that's running low." Liam's grin never left as he tapped his foot listening. "Sure sure." Wayne strapped his bag on before walking away. "I'm stocking up to leave, simple as that. This 'group' won't last, it's a sinking ship and I don't plan to be here to go down with them." Liam just shrugged, "Trust me, I get it. One thing though, I'm going with you." Wayne glared at Liam for a moment, "And why is that?" Liam turned to look at the truck a moment. "First off because you'll owe me for not telling everyone about your getaway car full of supplies, and secondly I don't want to be here. Too many people with too many variables, mistakes are just inevitable and all it will take is one to bring the place down. Ben's an idiot for bringing you all in, a few would have been fine. You and me can survive together easily, face it big guy two guns are better than one."

Wayne shook his head, he couldn't stand Liam but he had a point. "Fine, you've got a deal. We leave in two weeks." Liam smirked as he watched Wayne walk ahead of him, clearly pleased with himself.

--

A week later Liam and Wayne stood in a hallway, Liam told Wayne about his plan to take the AR-15 the day before they would leave, Wayne against the idea.

--

Another week later when it came time for them to leave.

"It's off." Wayne said stepping up behind Liam who turned around in surprise. "What's off?" Wayne shook his head leading Liam away so they could talk. "We're not leaving, I'm going to bring the supplies back in slowly over time the same way I took them out, no one will be the wiser." Liam took a step back, "Why the fuck are you getting cold feet? We're days away from leaving and you change your mind? You have got to be kidding me." Wayne sighed leaning back against the wall. "Maybe staying here is the best idea, if we stay maybe we can actually prevent this place from falling." Liam just laughed. "Seriously? You've gone soft on me." Wayne thought about it for a second. "Yeah maybe I have, I've come to care about these people and if staying helps them then that's what I'm going to do. Let's face it, our chances out there on our own aren't any better." "Fine you stay I'll take the damn truck and supplies." Wayne smiled mischievously, "I think not. Your staying too, or I'll just tell everyone It's your stash, besides I've got the keys in a safe place, hope you know how to hot-wire a truck." Liam's smile faded, "You'll regret this." Wayne half smiled as he stepped away, "Oh I'm sure I will but that's fine by me."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Austin made his way up the west stairwell, his search for Tony now leading him to the rooftop of the hospital, he was almost there when the sound of a door opening below him caught his attention. Curiously he peeked over the railing looking down the dark opening in the middle of the stairwell, he listened as he heard hurried footsteps that sounded like they went from the third floor down to the second. He waited a moment before the sound of rain on the window behind him caused him to turn, he could see the tiny sprinkles turning to more of an average rain. He assumed anyone who was on the roof would probably come rushing in now but he opened the door to the roof anyways, looking out he could see someone standing in the rain. He grumbled something as he stepped out into the cold rain himself, "What are you doing out here?" He asked as he closed in on the man, the person's head turned slightly, his left eye glancing at Austin.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Annie reached the third floor via the east stairwell she ran straight to the Vipers Nest, Falisha and the man we're nowhere to be seen and there was no sign of Ben. "Sarge." She called out quietly as she peeked down a hall, the pistol she'd grabbed held with both hands. A part of her now regretting this decision she gulped, telling herself that she could do this she took a breath and pushed on.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Patrick?" Austin gave the man a questioning look as Patrick turned his head back up towards the sky. "You always do this when it rains?" Patrick smiles his face looking upwards, the drops hitting his face with his eyes closed. "Not always. The rain clears my head, it helps me think. It always has since I was a kid I find it relaxing...I came up here to think. I honestly didn't think anyone would find me here, especially you." Austin caught the crack in Patrick's voice. "It's freezing and your getting soaked...we're getting soaked. Let's go inside." Patrick stood un-moving, Austin huffed lightly staring at him from behind. "What's wrong?" "Nothing." "Don't do that. Don't play it off like that, we've been friends long enough and I know you well enough to know that something's bothering you. Besides no one stands outside in the cold ass rain for the hell of it."  Patrick's head lowered, opening his eyes to stare at the ground, watching the tiny splashes and ripples the raindrops we're creating as they collided with the puddles on the roof below him. "What isn't wrong." Austin cocked his head to the side.

"She loved me Austin," Patrick said, once again peering over his shoulder at Austin. Austin was caught off guard but stayed quiet keeping eye contact with Patrick, if nothing else but to reassure him that he was staying. "Audri loved me. That night on the rooftop when she lay dying in my arms I could see it in her eyes, that she wanted to tell me. I'd known for a while, and...I think I loved her too, I should have told her." Patrick sighed, placing his hand on his face, emotions making it hard to focus. "But I wanted HER say it, to come out of her shell. I did what I always did with her, I tried to push her, to help her through that shy side by letting her do it herself. To let her open up and be the wonderful person I knew she was, I wanted her to see that person, to feel that person. Now she'll never know how I felt, never know that I felt the same way about her." At this point he was trying to choke back the tears, they we're mixing with the rainwater running down his face but Austin didn't need to see them to know they we're there. "Even at the end when she was dying in my arms I kept my mouth shut, trying one last time to allow her the chance." Patrick turned so that he was halfway facing Austin, his head turned fully towards him. "What kind of person does that?"

Austin shook his head. "I owe you and Audri my life and the lives of my friends. Until the very end you we're doing what you did for her." Austin reached out to try and place a hand on the shoulder closest to him, intending to comfort Patrick in some way by letting him know he has friends that care. Patrick recoiled slightly taking a step away. Austin stopping his advancement seeing Patrick's reaction he took a step back to where he once stood, his hand going back to his side. Patrick half smiled and half smirked, "I'm sorry...I just..." Austin shook his head briefly, "No, I understand. You came to the rooftop to be alone." He smiled through the pouring rain, the both of them completely soaked. "I can go...just don't stay out here too long." Austin slowly turned to leave, wondering if it was the right thing to do, though he planned to wait in the stairwell to make sure Patrick didn't stay too long. He'd only taken two steps when he heard the quick sloshing footsteps and suddenly he was jostled as he felt Patrick's hands latch onto his shoulders, his grip was tight but gentle. Austin now stuck in place looked over his shoulder at Patrick puzzled. "Please don't...I..." Patrick said staring down almost panting, unable to meet Austin's gaze. "I'll stay. If you need me to, then I'll stay."

Austin moved slowly out of Patrick's grip turning himself around face to face with Patrick he reached behind Patrick cupping the back of Patrick's head gently with his right hand pulling them face to face, angling his head so that their foreheads touched. Austin's eyes watching Patrick's face, Patrick's eyes still lowered. "You have to look up someday." Austin could see the distress on Patrick's face. Patrick's eye's wouldn't fully clear, whether it was from the tears or the rain he wasn't sure anymore. "I just..." Patrick's words caught in his throat, finally he looked up at the dark amber eyes that had been watching him, blinking the mist away he pulled back so that their foreheads no longer touched. "I don't want to say it but I have to and I just need you to listen." Austin simply nodded causing Patrick to smile, "One thing I've learned these past few months is that I like you Austin, I 'really' do." Patrick watched Austin's features for a response but the other man stood unwavering. "I have to tell you that because I never told Audri and look how that ended, I NEED to tell you."

Austin watched Patrick for a moment, now that it was partially out in the open he could see that Patrick was uncomfortable, probably because Austin hadn't reacted in anyway, Austin let Patrick's words sink in. "So you're saying?..." "Yeah, I am. I needed it out there. It's new to me I've never..." Austin finally moved causing Patrick's to drown out. "Never what? Felt this way about another man?" If the cold rain hadn't already turned Patrick's face red Austin guessed Patrick would have been turning red at this point. "Oh...well. Not gonna lie it's a surprise. My gaydar must seriously be broken, I just assumed you we're straight." Patrick shrugged. "So did I."

"Like I said, I needed to tell you. Let's just move on." Patrick took a step forwards towards the door leading back inside. 'Move on', the words repeated in Austin's head, his forehead wrinkling as he narrowed his eyes. He and Patrick we're friends and he'd never questioned that relationship, never thought about anything more, he had little time to think it over before stepping to his left blocking Patrick's path with a questioning look. "What do you mean move on? You don't just drop something like that and leave without letting the other person process and respond." Patrick crossed his arms over his chest, "I wanted to say it, that was all. I didn't expect a response. You don't want to be with me, I'm still in love with a dead girl after-all, I'm not worth the time."

Patrick once again stepped around Austin heading for the door. Austin spun around grabbing Patrick by the arm spinning Patrick as well. "You don't get to do that, tell someone you like them or love them then try to tell them not to reciprocate." Austin wasn't angry but his tone probably made it sound like he was. "I make that choice for myself Patrick, It's not yours to make." Patrick was caught off guard as Austin's face closed in on his, his reflexes too slow to stop it, or maybe he didn't want to. Once their lips met and Austin kissed him all thoughts of pulling away vanished as he leaned into the kiss. His hand against Austin's neck as he felt Austin's hand gently on his own neck.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luke, Alicia, and Kate came out of the hallway where everyone slept into the lobby. Izzie, Wayne, Shiloh, and Liam standing throughout the room turned to watch them enter. "Still no sign of them?" Luke asked as they closed the distance to the others. Wayne crossed his arms over his chest shaking his head, "No, and this storm doesn't look like it's letting up. But this is South Carolina weather we're talking about, it could be over in five minutes or five hours." Kate stepped by them up to a window, looking out through the cracks between the boards that covered most of the first floor's windows most shattered or half shattered very few remained intact, she couldn't see much thanks to the rain but just looking out held some sort of comfort. Izzie watched her fully understanding how she felt, they both had someone out there. "We should go look for them, it's been hours since they we're supposed to be back." Kate said not turning away.

"Don't be an idiot, we couldn't find them in this if we wanted to and I'm not risking my life on a chance." Liam spouted, Izzie reached out flicking his ear as hard as she could, causing the man to retract before rubbing the ear. "What he meant to say was that we'd only get caught in the storm ourselves. They we're probably on the way back when the storm rolled in and had to take shelter. I'm sure the roads are just slush thanks to the rain mixing with the snow on the ground." Kate glanced at Izzie who was smiling at her, she smiled back. Yeah that was likely what had happened but they we're still out there and still vulnerable. "When the storm blows over we'll figure out if we should risk sending a group to look for them."

Bailey and Ellis came strolling in from the same direction as the others had come, Ellis looking half asleep. "Shouldn't you two be in bed?" Alicia asked. Bailey just huffed, "There's nowhere I'd rather be but Annie has been gone a while. I figured I should look for her or something, and I didn't want to leave Ellis alone in the room. What are you all doing out here?" Luke stood at one of the windows staring out at the half circle car blockade, "Guys.." he muttered. Alicia took a glance around the room. "Falisha's on watch right? Maybe Annie's with her? We just came from the emergency room lobby, Cynthia was there but not Annie." "Ben's not here either, think all three of them are at the Vipers nest?" Izzie spoke up glancing at the stairwell down the hall. "Guys." Luke said once again a little louder not looking away from the window. Izzie sighed, "Ben and Falisha yes, Annie...is probably sticking her nose in their business." They all pretty much knew Falisha and Ben we're close, though Ellis just blinked at them, confused and tired. "Alright enough of that." Kate said ushering Bailey and Ellis towards the hallway. "You two should go back to bed, I'll go find Annie." "Guys!" Luke finally called out loudly causing Kate, Bailey, and Ellis to stop, everyone in the room staring at him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Annie crept quietly down one of the halls. It was dark, the silence was nothing new but it was more ominous, maybe it was because she was nervous or alone. Finally she spotted the faint moonlight coming in the windows on the opposite side of the hospital, she was almost to the other side, and still nothing. She stopped, glancing through the glass located on one of the doors. As she continued on a few steps, the next hallway on her right coming into view, she froze when she could see a figure peeking around the corner ahead of her, luckily it was looking the other way. Raising her weapon she took aim. The figures head suddenly turned her direction, panic setting in as her chest tightened and her finger twitched on the trigger. "Annie?" Lightning flashed and thunder boomed causing her to yelp, the gun went off as she squeezed the trigger whether she wanted it to or not.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Patrick and Austin weren't sure how long the kiss lasted before Austin pulled back, searching Patrick's face. "You didn't stop me AND you kissed back. Sounds like you don't actually know what you want tough guy." Patrick wanted to agree, he opened his mouth to protest when a flash of lightning followed by thunder boomed above them causing them both to flinch. Not a second later had a single gunshot echoed from below them inside the hospital causing both of them to look towards the door in panic. "What the hell!?" Patrick said before the two ran through the sloshing puddles and back inside the hospital stairwell.

--

Neither noticed the person standing just inside, beside the door as they rushed by. Tony stood with his back against the wall, watching them as they ran by. His eyes moist, he couldn't hear them over the rain but he'd seen it all including the kiss. He wanted to be happy, both Austin and Patrick we're friends after-all, even if for the time being he was supposed to be mad at Austin. That wasn't what stopped him from smiling, it was very suddenly and painfully obvious that he felt something more for Austin.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luke turned to them, pointing out the window, "Something's moving out there!" Luke wasn't panicking but he wasn't exactly calm either. "It's just some of the dead, the storm's probably riling them up." Shiloh said stepping behind Luke, being taller he could look out the window over Luke's head, he squinted trying to see through the rain to spot the walkers. "No, it moved too fast to be a walker." Luke said shuffling out of the way so Shiloh could see fully. And in fact he did see something moving, at first he thought it was likely the people from the run until whatever it was ducked behind something inside the barricade. Inside the barricade? Shiloh squinted harder in confusion moving closer to the window, there was nothing there to duck behind so how in the hell? The rain seemed to let up every so gently for a brief moment, or maybe it was the wind shifting causing the rain to change direction, whatever it was for a brief moment the outside was a little more clear to him, that combined with the sudden lightning flash caused him to stop squinting. Time seemed to slow as he looked at the others, mouth opening to warn them, a gunshot from one of the upper floors that resonated with the lightning had everyone looking up at the ceiling in shock. His words never made it, his warning drowned out by the loud bursts of gunfire.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Annie was breathing hard as she stared at the body before her, her arms slowly lowering as the pistol seemed to get heavier, the figure had slumped to the floor, tears started streaming down her face. She'd heard her name too late, the storm had caused her to react in fear, and the brief second of light from the lightning had lit up the figures face. She'd just shot Ben. It all sunk in and the man lay motionless against the wall. Her hand covered her mouth as she started whimpering, what had she done? Emotional and unsteady she turned and ran straight for the stairwell.

She exited the east stairwell at full speed, her mind telling her this was the wrong floor, that she'd preemptively exited the stairwell, but her feet wouldn't let her stop, they carried her onward throughout the halls. Suddenly her feet flew out from under her causing her to fall backwards, she'd slipped in something she realized as she groaned from the sudden force of hitting the floor. Putting her hand down beside her she felt a small puddle of something wet and sticky as she pushed herself into a sitting position. Looking down the could see it was coming from under the door she was beside. A noise of something moving inside caused her to stand quickly, with her eyes slowly adjusting she could see the substance she'd slipped in was blood.

For some reason she was unconsciously reaching for the door handle. Her emotions we're twisted and she wasn't thinking clearly, or maybe it was curiosity or a little of both but it was happening whether she willed it or not. Slowly she pulled the handle down pushing the door gently, it opening inwards with a groan. She stood staring into the dark doorway for a moment when something came ambling out at her "Anthony?" she asked in shock at how pale he was, reaching out he suddenly caught hold of her hair causing her to scream, firing two shots out of sheer panic, it was then she realized he was dead, that he was a walker. He was large and too much for the teenage girl to handle, it didn't take much to knock her off her feet with Anthony's face closing in. She flailed, kicking and pushing at it with her arms. The hand holding her pistol was locked against her chest by the sheer weight of the dead man pushing down on her, she had only just enough room to turn it slightly, pulling the trigger, the bullet only shaving against the side of its head, crying out in terror and frustration she pushed the pistol more before pulling the trigger again, this time hitting home. Anthony's body went limp, she shoved him off, scurrying backwards against a door still sniffling. She stood slowly and shakily, in her shock she didn't hear the door behind her open, she felt something press against her before her mouth and nose we're covered by cloth, she took a breath out of panic, something smelled oddly sweet she thought as her vision blurred as she felt her legs give way beneath her.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ryan was pushing forwards down a street, his left arm shielding his face, the thick rain had reached them moments ago followed by a little wind which was whipping the cold drops against them, between the wind and cold the drops felt like needles. He was focused, thinking of Kate and just getting back to the hospital, his mind wouldn't stop playing out any and all of the bad scenario's, why would someone try to strand them away from the hospital. Shannon and Klaire followed not far behind, both shielding their own faces with the hoods from their coats. Ryan was starting to pull away from them, "Ryan!" Klaire called out unsure if he could even hear them over the rainfall. Shannon watched as Klaire angrily ran forwards, "Ryan!" she called out once more causing Ryan to turn around. "What!?" he yelled back, the three now stopped. "There's no telling how long this storm will last we should get inside and wait it out." Ryan shook his head, "We're almost there we should just keep going." "It's hard to see, a walker could come at us and we'd never see it, don't be stupid!"

Ryan groaned, he knew Klaire was right but right now he didn't care. "If something's wrong we need to be there, end of story! I-I won't let anything happen to Kate." Ryan started to turn before Klaire grabbed the collar of his coat pulling him back to face them. "How are you going to protect her if your dead!" Ryan stared at her in half shock but brushed her hand off. This time Shannon moved to block his path, "I get it, she's like a sister to you." Ryan didn't want to hear it, trying to move past her but she wasn't having it. "My sister's there too you know, but doing this won't help. They're probably fine, everyone's there. Ben, Wayne, Izzie, Shiloh if anything happens they can handle it." Ryan rolled his eyes with an annoyed chuckle at her mentioning Shiloh, this time moving past her with force. Shannon sighed, once again the mistake with Shiloh biting her in the ass.

Klaire and Shannon both ran forwards on either side of him. "Just stop!" Klaire said, Ryan ignoring her. Suddenly Shannon moved in front of him slapping him across the face, it did the trick as Ryan stopped staring at her in surprise. "What happened to cool and collected Ryan? We wan't him back, he wouldn't be making these mistakes, what in the hell is wrong with you?" The two locked eyes for a moment. Ryan huffed before rubbing his face, "She's all I have left. My parents, friends, Jake, Greg...If anything we're to happen to Kate I'd..." "Oh wake up!" Shannon shouted. "We've all lost everyone, Izzie's all I've got left and Klaire has Bailey. But it's not an excuse!" Ryan nodded as he averted his gaze slightly, "She's all I've got left..." he mumbled once more "..alright." He said accepting it. The three moved into a nearby building soaking wet, clearing it before sitting to wait.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ben slowly started to regain consciousness hearing a gunshot, dazed and confused he turned his head searching his surroundings with his eyes, the pattering sound of rain against windows with a slight echo in the distance. His head throbbed, reaching around to the back of his head he winced as his hand rubbed against the bloody wound. He groaned as he stood up, turning to look at the wall that he'd hit his head against trying to piece together what had happened. It hit him suddenly, he'd been shot he felt a searing pain in his chest. Ben looked down, his hands going towards the pain, he felt the bullet against his chest the object absorbed by the bullet proof vest he wore. He yanked the collapsed bullet free staring at it before tossing it to the ground where it bounced and rolled, he was lucky that he'd been wearing the vest like he did most days. Where was she? What was going on? Where we're the others...wait what was that noise? He shook his head to clear the cobwebs, there it was, the familiar sound of gunfire, plenty of it.

"Annie!?" He called out hoarsely from a dry throat the moment he remembered seeing her, the muzzle flash had come from her gun. He recalled a split second of hearing her scream, along with something booming. The storm he realized glancing at the windows down the hall, "What was that girl thinking?" he muttered, picking up his gun with a grunt. The head wound wasn't bad he'd had worse but that didn't make the killer headache any better. He had to get downstairs and find out what the hell was going on.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bullets, glass, and splinters from the boards flew about the room instantaneously, everyone in the lobby dropping or running to cover, some we're shouting. Wayne and Shiloh both attempting to return fire from the windows but the constant spray of bullets making it difficult. "I can't see a damn thing, the bastards are using this rain to their advantage!" Shiloh shouted from below the window he'd been looking out, Luke crouched down behind him against the wall, without a weapon of his own he just stayed out of the way. Izzie was hidden behind the front desk along with Kate, Bailey, Ellis, and Alicia. She turned to Kate as she unholstered her weapon, "Kate get the kids out of here." Kate didn't need to be asked twice, the three running into the hallway. Alicia moved beside Izzie, "What do we do now!? They've basically got us pinned, we can't get to the stairwells to get to the armory and if we move to the back of the hospital they'll just walk right in."

Izzie didn't need to be told this she was well aware. Wayne had the only assault rifle in the room. Alicia, Izzie, Liam, and Shiloh all had their sidearms but that was it, they'd run out of bullets. "Don't let them in, we have to hold this room!" Wayne shouted to the others. Each taking turns popping out of cover and firing a shot or two.

Suddenly the stairwell doors burst open and Izzie could see Ben, he studied the scene understanding full well if he exited into the hall he'd probably be shot at so he stayed just inside next to the door frame. "What's happening up there!? We heard shots!" Izzie called out to him. "Shots? More than one!?" he yelled back at her as she ducked further into cover as a bullet splintered against the side of the desk. "Yeah, sounded like the last two we're right above us!" Ben stared out at them for a moment before moving towards the stairs. "Wait Ben! We need you here!!" She yelled but he didn't come back.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was difficult to leave them but he knew someone inside the building had Falisha, and what would cause Annie to shoot again unless she'd encountered that same man, he knew it could be that whoever it was could have had done the shooting as well which made him sick to his stomach with worry. He trusted his friends, he knew they could handle themselves without him but if Annie and Falisha we're in trouble he needed to find them, and if someone was to sneak up behind them in this gunfight they'd all be dead. This threat had to be dealt with now.

All this floated in his mind as he roamed the second floor with his pistol ready, a small flashlight in the other hand he had them side by side so he could instantly see where he was aiming. That moment of distraction was all it took, with his guard down ever so slightly, heavy arms came down onto his with force causing the grip on the weapon and flashslight to loosen, before the weapon could hit the floor and before he could even react to the attack the other man had his own gun pointed at Ben's head, reaching down he picked up Ben's before taking a step back. The flashlight rolled pointing at the nearby wall causing the light to bounce just enough to brighten the immediate area. As Ben studied his foe, his own face went from angry from being caught off guard to dumbfounded and almost sorrowful look. "Chris?" The man smiled tipping his head into a courteous nod, "Sargeant."

Austin and Patrick came out of the west stairwell and running down the hall before skidding to a hault before entering the lobby. They watched as Alicia fired from behind the desk followed by Wayne from a far window, the retaliation shots from outside being twofold what they'd shot. Alicia noticed them from the corner of her eye, "Get the damn guns! We can't make it to the armory!" She shouted at them causing some of the others to glance their way as well. "And find out what the hell is going on upstairs, Ben took off!" Izzie called out after them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kate raced down the hall with Ellis and Bailey ahead of her, heading for the ambulance bay lobby. "Cynthia!" She called out as they entered. She couldn't see the girl, "Bailey, keep an eye on Ellis for a second." The sudden fear and excitement had jostled the boy awake, he was looking around. Kate turned down the next hall bumping into someone, two small screams erupting before Cynthia shined her flashlight on Kate. "Fuck! Warn somebody next time!" Cynthia said as they both collected themselves. "No time." Kate said handing Cynthia her pistol. "I need you to watch Bailey and Ellis, you know how to shoot it right?" Cynthia looked as though she was about to give it back before glancing at Bailey and Ellis standing by the chairs and nodding. "Yeah." Kate caught the hesitance. "Hey, you can do this. Just watch them and keep them safe, you shouldn't even have to use it. There aren't enough of us in there, I have to go back." "Go." Cynthia said her voice just ever so slightly more confident. "You do realize I've probably used a gun more than her right?" Bailey said as Kate ran by.

Kate wasn't quite sure what she was going to do, as she made her way back to the others unarmed she wondered if it was the right thing to do, she couldn't be of help.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"How...w-what the hell are you doing here?" Ben asked in a state of confusion, Chris lowering his weapon. Chris just smirked while shaking his head, "You seriously thought we wouldn't ever come back? That I wouldn't?" For a brief moment Ben looked past Chris to see if he could spot anyone else. "The others are here?" Chris sighed as he paced a little from one side of the hallway to the other his eyes looking over and fiddling the pistol in his hand as if it was a new world to explore. "No, I'm alone. Ramirez, Cliff, Thompson, ...Val." Chris laid emphasis on Val which Ben picked up, when she was mentioned he could see Chris' eyes quickly dart a glare at him briefly.

Ben's confusion faded slowly and was replaced by a hardened calm as Chris' pacing lead him to stand slightly beside and behind Ben. "You once told me that you'd always have my back." Ben kept his eyes forwards, he could feel Chris staring at him he kept quiet letting Chris speak. "I'm sure you said that to the rest of them, but it was always you and me. I ALWAYS had your back, and you always had mine. Then the world started falling apart and I was gullible, I thought it wouldn't change any of us and that we'd stick together. I trusted you when you told us to leave, that we'd been called back to base, hell we all did." Chris sighed, his eyes on Ben but Chris was somewhere else, staring at something that didn't exist, but only in his own mind. "But then, suddenly you didn't have my back anymore, you didn't have any of our backs."

Ben didn't turn to look at Chris, a part of him wanted to but he couldn't look him in the eye. "I can't take it back." Ben said shaking Chris out of his stupor. Chris just smiled, "I know." Ben heard something in Chris' voice, something he couldn't quite pinpoint within those two words. "But I did what I thought was right." Ben continued causing Chris huffed, and Ben finally turned his head to face him. "You should have trusted me. Damnit Ben, I would have followed you to the end." Ben could see the pain and the anger in Chris' eyes. There was an eerie calm as the two stared at one another.

"Chris what did you do to Annie and Falisha?" Ben stared at him calmly causing Chris to grin. "I wasn't sure you'd catch on, playing dumb isn't like you." "They're dead you know?" Chris said causing Ben's fists to tighten. "After we left in the humvee we we're almost to Fort Bragg when we lost it. They are all dead because of you Ben...Sargeant, your the reason Val is dead. You sending us out there like that without most of the weapons, without you it was sending us to our deaths and I lost the woman I loved." Ben could see where this was heading and preemptively grabbed at Chris shoving him up against the wall keeping his forearm at Chris' throat holding him there. "I didn't know, and you should know I never meant for that. You know why I lied to all of you? Did you make it to Fort Bragg? Did they tell you what our real orders we're?!"

Chris just laughed, half choking because of how tight the forearm was pressing against his throat. "Of course I did. Our orders we're to eliminate all the patients and staff." Ben growled, "So you get why I lied to you all. Slaughtering them wouldn't have contained this thing, it was so far spread. We don't kill innocents." Chris spat in his face, "I know WHY you did it but what good came of it? Most of them ran off only to die anyway. You convinced four of them to stay?" Ben ignored the spit on his face narrowing his eyes at Chris. "How long have you been watching us?"

"I've been hiding out up here on this floor for two weeks, watching, listening. You chose those people over us, your family. Your decision cost too many lives. I saw you fancied that woman... Falisha was it?" Ben's eyes flashed in anger, Chris brought his boot upwards kicking forwards sending Ben sprawling backwards. Chris rushing forwards to grapple with Ben before he could regain his footing. Physically they had almost the same stature and physique though Ben had almost ten years on his former subordinate Chris.

Klaire sat peacefully in a corner of the abandoned home they'd been using as shelter from the storm. Ryan stood staring out a window, he'd said he just wanted to be on watch but she knew he was waiting for the rain to let up so he could get them to leave ASAP. The rain drops we're almost soothing, she let herself focus on them completely. It was a nice pit patter with a few large pings here and there, it had seemed completely normal until she started to focus on the larger pings. She sat up before moving to the front door opening it, sticking her head out. Now without it being muffled she could hear it all more clearly.

"Let's go!" She yelled pulling her head back inside both Ryan and Shannon giving her looks. "Weren't you just saying we should wait out the storm." Ryan said in half annoyance at the fact that she now wanted to do what he'd wanted to do earlier. "There's gunfire coming from the direction of the hospital do you want to talk about it or leave?" Both Shannon and Ryan moved to listen out on the porch as well. "How did we not notice that?" Ryan said angrily shutting the door behind them. "It's this damn storm." Shannon said as the three moved down the far side of the porch. "We should have never stopped!" Ryan yelled at them through the rain. Neither replied, just kept moving.

Out of breath from running up and down the stairs in such a short time Patrick and Austin made it to the second floor, moving to the armory. Grabbing as many of the assault rifles as he could he put the straps over Austin's head. "Why am I carrying them all?" Austin asked as the weight was packed on. "You get the guns to them, I'll find Ben. I think I heard voices before we came in here, I'll find him and meet you down there." Austin gave him a slightly displeased look to which Patrick just smiled before giving him a quick kiss on the lips. "Bribing me with kisses now?" Austin asked moving towards the door. Patrick shook his head, "Just reassuring you that I'll be right behind you." Austin smirked from the hallway, "Well, it worked." he said before running towards the stairwell.

Patrick loaded his own rifle before heading in the opposite direction, he could have sworn he heard voices this way.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Guns are here!" Luke called out to the others as Austin stopped at the far end of the lobby. It was too far to try and throw or slide the guns to them, he'd have to make it to cover. "We give him cover fire, enough time for him to make it to the desk. On three everyone open fire!" Wayne glanced at Austin who nodded that he was ready before taking a stance to run. "One...Two...Three!" Wayne shouted. All at once Izzie, Wayne, Alicia, Shiloh, and Liam brought their weapons up and shot out into the dark parking lot. Austin shot forwards, guns clanking against one another. The cover fire was there but it didn't stop some of these people from shooting, Austin could hear the bullets landing nearby. At one point he almost lost his balance, being front heavy from the guns he started to tip forwards. Normally he could have caught himself, but he was still soaked from the roof, his shoe squeaked against the tile floor as it flew out from under him. As he was falling he could hear the distinct noise of a bullet colliding with flesh, followed by a shout.

Coming Up: Will the survivors be able to protect their home? Death could be around every corner.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Optional Questions:
Will Wayne's decisions come back to bite him?
Was Patrick in the right or in the wrong about trying to let Audri say it herself at the end?
Thoughts on Austin/Patrick?
Was it a Shocker?
Will it last?
Who's in the most danger?
Favorite Character(s)?
Least Favorite Character(s)?
With what has been revealed did Ben make the right call?
(I tried to give a clear outline without giving all the information at one time. I dunno if it's confusing. Still haven't decided if I want to give it a flashback or not.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tribute kind of video to these last few episodes, or the second half of the season I guess. It was fun to make.

I want to say for anyone who might be interested. The theme type song for Patrick/Audri is 'Things Left Unsaid' by Disciple. I find it goes really well with their relationship and what happened now that we know how Patrick feels. Personally I prefer the original, not the acoustic version. Just a rooftop instead of a hospital bed. ;p

Also 'Fix You' by Coldplay is very easily Austin/Patrick with some Audri mixed in.

There's a chance the finale might be super long because I'm trash at spacing out along a planned amount of episodes. So there might be a 13th episode or just a part 2 of twelve we shall see.

Sorry for the wait, I'm really trying to atleast have an episode out each week at most but it hasn't been happening lately so I apologize. I hate the episodes being so spread apart, I hope the lengths of the episodes makes up for it to some extent.

:3
Did I mention the episodes keep getting longer. I swear this wasn't planned.

Leave a comment! I enjoy them.

Thanks for reading, and being apart of this journey.

Everyone is, but Shannon will never be safe.

Will Wayne's decisions come back to bite him? - I'm going to say it already has. :p. But I'm glad he stayed anyways.
Was Patrick in the right or in the wrong about trying to let Audri say it herself at the end? I think it wasn't his fault. Mistakes happen and he probably would've been more sad that he hadn't said it before she died.
Thoughts on Austin/Patrick? BOOM. I thought Tony and Austin would get together. And then when they kissed I was like OOOOH. And then when Tony saw them I was like YASSS LOVE TRIANGLE XD. I really like Austin though. And Patrick... Though I think Austin and Tony would make a better couple...
Was it a Shocker? YAS. Everything was, but the Austin/Patrick was the most.
Will it last? .......For a while, than Austin will be like "crap" and have to choose between Tony and Patrick
Who's in the most danger? Cynthia and the kids. They all are but they seem the most likely to get attacked... Or Ryan, Shannon and Klaire. But they're a pretty bad@$$ team so...
Favorite Character(s)? Klaire and Bailey (Yes, I'm bias, I'm sorry) Shannon, Izzie, Austin, Patrick, Annie, Cynthia, Kate Ryan and Ben!
Least Favorite Character(s)? Chris ofc. XD
You get better each time(and longer, which is a plus) LIKE I LOVE YOU. THANK YOU FOR YOUR AMAZING WRITING XD I'm always hooked when I start reading and I literally cannot stop
