Why does your character want to participate in the exploration?: Matthieu saw all of these young naive kids trying to join so he figured he had a pretty good shot. Also, it’s his job to discover interactions between living things in nature.
Bio: Matthieu never really cared what he would end up doing for a living. He kind of just fell into studying nature. His father is a retired trading ship pilot, and his mother is a retired surgeon. Given that his parents had good jobs, Matthieu had an easy childhood, but most of it was spent alone. Matthieu has been to every discovered planet for his studies. He appears to have a thick skull, but is a somewhat brilliant man. Matthieu met his wife on Terra and has built a home and family there ever since. His son is 12 years old and loves getting cool Knick knacks and souvenirs from other planets. Hopefully Matthieu will be able to pick up something for his son from the undiscovered planets

Why does your character want to participate in the exploration?: As one of the most respected women in the army, she was near the top of the list of people to go on the expedition. After lots of convincing, she accepted.
Bio: Until she joined the army, Angel was never the first picked for any team, the first person that someone would go to if they were in trouble, or the top scorer for the quiz. She was always good, but never great. Angel never lived this moniker down, and soon focussed on one field area she was always interested in, the army. She finally found her spark, and rose up the ranks at a pace most people could never dream of. She found her passion, and became a natural born leader, specialising in field combat and tactics. Never the one to sympathise, she teaches her piers with tough love instead of mutual agreement, and finds herself disappointed after others don't meet her expectations. What's interesting, is that if she was on the other side of things, she'd go completely bananas. One of the most dangerous soldiers on her planet, she was eventually convinced to join the expedition after a long debate from the council members. She's leaving on the expedition much richer, but she still doesn't plan on taking the backseat.

Why does your character want to participate in the exploration?: EJ is fresh out of grad school, and jumped at the opportunity to study humans interacting with a never-before-studied environment.
Bio: Growing up, EJ was part of a tight-knit family, with his mother, father, and younger sister, Leah. While most people take an instant liking to EJ, he spent most of his adolescence buried in his studies. His parents were struggling owners of a failing diner, and wanted him to carve out a better life for himself, always encouraging Leah and him to attain scholarships that would grant them better opportunities-- which is exactly what happened for EJ. He is very "book smart" and "street dumb" as a result, and most people assume he's a typical dummy when first meeting him. Despite his lack of day-to-day human interaction, he finds humanity itself to be extremely interesting, and is always the one that his pals turn to when they need honest, sincere advice. His dad was the one who found the exploration opportunity from a TV ad, and EJ's professors specially recommended him to the scientists hiring for the expedition. He's super excited to be seeing new worlds (literally), but might be in a bit over his head.

Why does your character want to participate in the exploration?: Daniel would much rather stay behind, and have a regular job. His father was a very successful naval pilot, which forced him to follow in his footsteps. Of course his father passed away during his training in the flight academy. Daniel has let the fear of never being good enough to live up to his fathers great legacy hold him back from his massive potential. This fear is the reason he would rather stay behind. Daniel doesn't take chances and masks this with cockiness and selfishness. After being volen-told to pilot this expedition, he now faces his greatest fear. A possible arch for Daniel would be to step out of his father's shadow, and creating his own legacy. He can only hope to make his father proud. But not until he takes those initial steps himself.
Bio: Daniel was born and grew up on Earth/Terra idolizing his father and the stars. His father always wanted him to be a pilot like himself. Once he was of age, Daniel quickly joined the academy. Daniel cares very much about what he does. He once dreamed about saving the world and becoming the best pilot to ever live. But after his father passed away even before Daniel's graduation, something deep inside Daniel was broken. Daniel's fear of not being good enough to live up to his father's legacy now holds him back from everything and all of his great potential. He masks his fear with arrogance, cockiness, and selfishness. Often choosing the path of least resistance and never putting his neck on the line for the greater good. Daniel now faces his greatest fear of all, having been assigned to be a pilot on this great expedition.
