Garret - Why Does your name only have one T?

STORYTIME!
Okay, so, when I was still inside of my mother's stomach my parents were trying to think up a name for me. My dad liked the name "Garrett" so they eventually settled on that.
However, my last name has two "T's" in it and my dad thought it would be basic and repetitive if my first name also had two "T's" in it so my parents decided to give me a more unique name with less repetitive letters and just drop the last "T" and just named me "Garret" with one "T!"
