Austria is predicting semi-finals qualifiers!
Today or tomorrow it was announced that the live show for the semi-finals of ESCT 36 will take place. Austria's Hod decided to share his opinion on potential qualifiers, being very optimistic about the situation of the country he's in charge with.
In his opinion, the big favourites of semi-final 1 are Malta, Poland and Norway, while Spain, San Marino, Armenia or Sweden also shouldn't worry about not making the final. In the list of potential pleasant surprises he put Portugal and Lithuania, while Bosnia & Herzegovina might be one country listed as qualifying by the odds, that will not make it.
From the 2nd semi-final, Austria's Hod favourites to qualify are France, Iceland, Finland, United Kingdom and Austria. Potential surprises might be the qualification of Georgia and also the fail of countries like Albania, Ukraine or Bulgaria. In an interview, he seemed really optimistic about his country reaching the final: 'Even though the odds are totally against us, which was pretty surprising after the reviews we got for Thorsteinn, I'm pretty sure we'll make it without any problem. That considering the appeal of the style of the song, the message and the fact that many people that helped Thorsteinn to win Wer Singt fur Osterreich are also voting in this semi-final. I also don't see another country that the bets have put very low not makint it and this is Hungary, which has an entry that should normally make it without any problem. And to be sincere, I don't get the hype for Albania, Ukraine or Bulgaria from the betting odds, they are clear favourites but I think they will get lost between other more inspired songs.'
