40 years ago a young Norton Thorn was leading his father's troops into war. The four regions of what is now Frestos were independent Kingdoms. Knowing their survival depended on coming together to save the survival of their Houses, each Kingdom was fighting to the be the House that controlled the newly formed Kingdom formed from the four uniting regions. Norton of House Thorn's father was leading his House in the region of Kingston. Running short on supplies, troops and money he promised his son Norton to wed a daughter of House Shockborn, giving them a claim to the Iron Throne for their support as well as making one of the key advisers the older sister of Norton's soon to be wife. With the pledged support of House Shockborn, House Thorn begin to destroy and end the future of other Houses. He quickly regained control of Granos by force. The Swamplands and Fishers Dock began to work together to ensure the future for their houses. Soon they quickly became too weak to survivor and Fisher's Dock bent the knee ensuring the survival of their leading Houses who were eventually sent into poverty but their lives were spared. The Swamplands managed to hold onto this war for another year. Tricking House Thorn's troops directly into the swamps, killing almost half of their army.
House Thorn, unwilling to continue losing troops to the Swamplands, made a deal with House Tumas. If they were willing to bend the knee to House Thorn, the attacks on the Swamps would stop and they would be the only House from before the war to continue to rule. Sharie's father agreed to bend the knee in agreement that his children and their children and so on would continue to command the Swampland.
Robert and Madelyn of House Wylde just had their first son, Bryse when they were first called upon to lead Fisher's Dock. Robert served in the war as one of the war's chief commanders. Now too old to continue in war he asked to live out his dying days where he was born, Fishers Dock. Robert and his wife were given the position of Lord and Lady where they finished raising their family until their passing when Bryse became the Lord of Fisher's Dock. Marrying Klaire of House Jaxxon to unite the two Houses.
Granos was given to House Hemphill for their services during the war. Taylor of House Hemphill fought in many battles until his injuries prevented him from anymore, while Betty served as a medic on and off the battlefield. This is how they met and their marriage was not arranged for political reasons.
Since the War of the Four Kingdoms the Kingdom of Frestos has been relatively peaceful. A few squabbles here and there between Houses trying to take over a region, but no major conflict.
