Do the contestants actually win money?

for at least participating in Big Brother? Or do the 1st and 2nd placer only win them?

Yeah, reality TV contestants are paid a salary as if it's a job.  Some shows pay you for each week you stay in the game.  Other shows, like DWTS, pay a lump sum and that's it.
