~Think about queer theory~

--------------------------------DO NOT INTERCATE IF YOU CANT BE KIND IN THE COMMENTS---------

Being gay can be a personality type but not every gay person shows their queerness in a overt outward showing manners and that's okay too. Both are okay. I feel that when it comes to overt displays of what of society would deem as queer. Many people that fall into  heteronormative thinking patterns and get upset when a gay man or woman cannot be identified or can be identified with clothing, words, or other signifiers

I think they find it confusing when you don't fall into the stereotype they place on you, and hate you because you chose to be overt in your identity.

Nobody is lying to you if a gay men dresses like Eddie Brock

             or

Nobody is lying to you if a gay women dresses like Regina George

ahhhh I love these convos and with this one I always find myself going back and forth on the perspective of the queer person (notably the gay male since that's what I am)

and maybe this is controversial but-
If someone is 'overt' or 'obvious' with their sexuality, I agree that they're more susceptible to straight-up hate. Now, do they do it to provoke those situations? I don't think so, but I have sometimes thought it could also be a front. In my experience those that were the DEEPEST in the closet come out in confetti + glitter and are flamboyant and stay that way. Overcompensation? or maybe that's who they always were and it was bottled up for so long.

On the contrary, those who are not as overt (but doesn't necessarily 100% straight-passing) might just be that way and 'happen' to be gay. But could also still be dealing with shame and internalized homophobia that was never resolved. Or frankly could just be scared to get the hate that they see the above ^ people getting.

All in all, I probably wouldn't say it's a personality type, but rather a mold that some gays try desperately to meet while others reject - for various reasons, good and bad. But, unfortunately, I do think a majority of queer people adapt their identities based on how others around them perceive them. Whether that's to integrate, provoke, or confuse.
