I hate when people read my blogs. My blogs suck. I think people would rather shoot themselves then read my blogs. I think people would rather pretend to be JesseM's (3rd place for Karma) friend then read my blog. I think people would rather eat a bar of solid deoderant than read my blogs.
I just want to thank everyone who participated in my 25th charity game. It was awesome that everyone came out and I got to the final 2. Thanks for everything everyone. I hope to see you all again when I get to 50!
It is true, they are geniuses. Let me explain why. Overall, when you start playing tengaged, you have 0 T$.
The only way to make tengaged is to win, but it seems on average you will always have less T$ then you want.
So they have set up a beautiful system where you can use REAL MONEY to purchase T$.
This is genius because of the way the prize payouts are handled in games. When you play frookies, the total prize payout is 120 T$, the total that people pay to get into frookies is 130 T$. A net loss of 10 T$ to the tengaged economy. When you play crookies the total prize payout is 115 T$, and the total that people pay is 195 T$, a net loss of 80 T$ from the tengaged economy. Finally, when you play Survivor, because 1 tribe is always merged, they don't pay but the total that the other players pay per round is 200 T$. The total prize per round is 100 T$, a net loss of 100 T$ from the economy. So every time someone plays frookies, crookies, or Survivor, there is a net loss in T$ from the tengaged community. There are other ways to make T$, you can blog, and you can play castings. But most of the time the winnings from these games is so miniscule that it doesn't compare to the losses you get from playing the other games.
So by doing all that, they have created a system that you need to pay REAL money in order to play their games consistently and have fun.
The other thing that happens is that most of the game's that are played are judged based on your contribution and activity. This forces you to chat with people which in the long run allows you to create meaningful bonds with some players making you want to come back everyday and check on your friends at least. You then play some games, lose some T$ and buy some more using your REAL money and get screwed.
Now this is a genius money making scheme for tengaged, they have it all figured out. By constantly taking T$ away from us and making us pay for more.
Although this is genius, it does cause some serious problems. The first and most obvious one is that it promotes people making pre made's in these games. This is a bad thing for the average player because they have a less likely shot of winning when people team up. The other bad thing is that it then seems the only way to win is by making a pre made, and to do that it completely ruins the fun of these games, what was originally big brother, a cunning social game of wits and manipulation has turned into :who has the most friends". Whereas, if you watch the show, that is not how it is.
When I joined this site, I thought it would be a great way to try out these games I loved to see on TV. But, now that I have been here awhile it makes me think that someone could do it better because this site isn't about having fun and playing these games, it's all about making MONEY!
Now, I am not saying to Tengaged that I am quitting or anything. I am just saying that I don't want to pay to play these games, nor do I want them to be set up the way they are.
The solution, advertisements! Throw a ton of ads on the site, ads while I am waiting for games to start, ads all over. People come to the site enough that ads would be an incredible way to make money. Then we could play the games we enjoy and play them without the need to worry about losing a ton of T$, and maybe for playing those games you can give us more T$ on average then we are spending.
