overall it was pretty good, i'd give it like a 7/10. i really liked that they chose to shift focus from characters who were big in s1 (mike, eleven, nancy, jonathan) to other characters (dustin, steve, billy, max, lucas, will, hopper, joyce).
i'm not really a big fan of eleven but i liked her storyline this season (even the weird chicago episode) and i felt it was the right decision moving forward.
steve is by far the best character in this show but his arc in s2 was really underwhelming compared to s1. i would've liked to see more of the rivalry between him and billy - the fight in the last ep. was awesome and i can't wait to see how this rivalry progresses in s3
the science fiction in this show sucks and at this point i'm only really invested in the characters. i thought the whole mind flayer/demodog shenanigans were really lame compared to the demogorgon in s1.
overall i'd say s1 > s2 just because i feel like s1 played up the suspense really well. the suspense and excitement wasn't really there as much for me this season even though the stakes were higher.
