Hey everyone, a few years back, I was obsessed with the BBC television show, Doctor Who. You probably know the gist: timelord-dude accompanied by companion travel through space and time fighting evil, solving mysteries, etc.
Anyways, I've seen season 1-4, every 9th and 10th Doctor episode. I TRIED watching the seasons with the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith), but I dunno, did they get different writers or something? I just found his episodes to be extremely boring. The thing with the 9th and 10th doctors' seasons was that every episode was sort of a new adventure, and there was hardly any actual storyline that lasted throughout the season. Matt Smith's episodes, there were recurring characters, way too many storylines, and all these lame space battles that I couldn't care less about.
You guys might like that, but I just found it dull and I much prefer the formula of seasons 1-4.
So I heard the 12th Doctor just began doing episodes? Peter Capaldi, I believe it is. I was just wondering, if there are any avid Doctor Who fans that have anything to say about the new season? Does it continue the story lines that Matt Smith had or does it sort of start fresh? Could I just skip the 11th Doctor without having any troubles?
Yep, that's pretty much it. It's a great show, but the recent seasons have been "meh" in my opinion. I would love to start watching, however :)
First off, yeah the writing style changed along with Matt Smith's appearance in the show. Matt Smith is actually my favorite doctor (2nd is Tom Baker, 3rd is Tennant).
I haven't yet seen any of Capaldi's episodes, but I do know that it continues from Smith's such as Tennant's continued from Eccelton's. Clara, Capaldi's current companion, was Smith's.
DumbGinger Ah, nice. Thanks for the insight. I guess I might give it a try. I wish they would revert to the old formula but I guess more people prefer it this way. At least they got an older Doctor, that makes me happy. :) It just felt like Matt Smith was extremely similar to David Tennant in that weird, quirky way.
