While I wait for my original Vocom 2 to arrive from Volvo, I borrowed a Vocom 88890300 from a friend. It connects to the truck (2012 USA VN) but when I try to calibrate or program it gives me the error in the first picture. I also took a screenshot of the connection status (see second picture). Is this error caused by PTT (fresh 2.0.587 install, zero issues), the Vocom interface or by the APCI’s I updated from a file someone sent me. Are the European/Asian APCI’s and APCI+’s identical with the USA ones? Any opinions will be greatly appreciated, I have some work to do on the truck and can’t wait until the V2 arrives. Thank you.

Vocom II does work with 2.5.xx. you just need to install the drivers. If you want to have Volvo Tech Tool 2.5.xx on Vocom, try this Vocom 88890300 Interface or make sure yours same as the one displayed below
2.6.xx already has the drivers for Vocom I and II preinstalled
Firstly APCI can update online via PTT so it should be suitable for US trucks when users all are using it.
Secondly the APCI+ files available here works fine on US Volvo trucks as well as other regions. Some users have tested it.

First of all, the Piwis 2 interface is a lot more robust piece of equipment, compared to the cheesy and flimsy looking and feeling interface produced by Actia for Piwis 3.
Originally designed for the VW ODIS system, the VAS 6154 VCI is quite the service needy piece. [Breaks easily] not a hard comparison to make.
Is it worth to purchase Piwis 3 replace Piwis 2 now? Can the Piwis 2 compatible with Piwis 3 Software?

Unfortunately, their charges are just as much and frankly cost prohibitive as the New Piwis 3 VCI. 2-3-4 thousand dollars for these VCIs is simply not reasonable for small operators.
They will come down in price just like the Chinese VCIs did for all manufacturers as the markets get saturated and folks are not buying them as eagerly as at the beginning of the Piwis 3 had.

Cold Mode
-The ECM limits engine power during cold mode operation and the ECM modifies injection timing during cold mode operation. Cold mode operation provides the following benefits:
Increased cold weather starting capability
Reduced warm-up time
Reduced white smoke
-The Electronic Control Module (ECM) limits engine power during cold mode operation. The ECM may modify the injection timing and the ECM may cut out certain engine cylinders. This will increase startability and this will reduce warm up time. Cold mode is activated whenever the engine coolant temperature falls below a predetermined value. Cold mode remains active until the engine has warmed or a time limit is exceeded.
Cold Mode Operation
-The ECM will set the cold start strategy when the coolant temperature is below 18 °C (64 °F).
-When the cold start strategy is activated, low idle rpm will be increased to 1000 rpm and engine power will be limited.
-Cold mode operation will be deactivated when any of the following conditions have been met:
Coolant temperature reaches 18 °C (64 °F).
The engine has been running for 14 minutes.
-Cold mode operation varies the fuel injection amount for white smoke cleanup. Cold mode operation also varies the timing for white smoke cleanup. The engine operating temperature is reached before the walk-around inspection is completed. The engine will idle at the programmed low idle rpm in order to be put in gear.
-After the cold mode is completed, the engine should be operated at low rpm until normal operating temperature is reached. The engine will reach normal operating temperature faster when the engine is operated at low rpm and low-power demand.
No Engine Speed
-It’s normal to see the “No Engine Speed” on Status Flags while power switched ON or Engine Cranking. It will not go away until the Engine Starts, even when you are seeing Engine Speed in Status Tool on CAT ET Software.

How to Solve Porsche Piwis Tester 2 Blue Screen Defect?
Client replied that Porsche piwis tester 2 with Panasonic CF-30 laptop shows bluescreen when starting laptop, see below picture:
1.pls check laptop hard disk model, WIN7 system—>AHCI, XP syetem—>ATA or IDE
2.if hard disk model is correct, pls shoutdown laptop and unplug the memory memory bank and then plug it again.

How to perform: Fuel Rail Pump Solenoid Test using Caterpillar ET Software?
Purpose:
The Fuel Rail Pump Solenoid Test function can be used to verify the operation of the fuel rail pump solenoid. This test provides a method for determining whether or not an open circuit or short circuit is present.
-Connect CAT ET Software, Read More: How to Connecting Caterpillar ET Software to the ECM
-Open Menu: “Diagnostic”- “Diagnostic Test” – “Fuel Rail Pump Solenoid Test”
-Click on “Power All” or “Start” and wait the process until completed (Mode: powered)
-On tab “Test Results” is Not OK (*Short), indicates that the Fuel Rail Pump Solenoid is damaged/shorted.
NOTE:
-This test identifies an open circuit or a short circuit for the Fuel Rail Pump Solenoid. The test activates the solenoid while the engine is not running. A good solenoid will create an audible click when the solenoid is activated. CAT ET indicates the status of the solenoid as “OK”, “Not OK (Open)”, or “Not OK (Short)”.
Test Operation:
During the Fuel Rail Pump Solenoid Test, the ECM pulses 105-volt to the solenoid. The pulses are sent at the proper time and for the correct duration for a given engine load and speed. The ECM monitors the current flow through the circuit for each solenoid. If the current flow is too high or too low, the ECM activates one of the following diagnostic codes:
