This has always puzzled me and for good reason. As with the Suzy Q’s of the world, it seems several players with a deficient chance at winning want into the final 3. However going through the advantages and disadvantages would suggest that making it to the final and losing is the worse option next to receiving 4th. If you’re only there for monetary purposes then fine, but if you are a fan of Survivor, every part of you should desire a torch snuff both for the moment and a good gif for your friends. Not only that, but you get a Jury vote and a pretty great soap box to make a great final tribal speech to those who “screwed” you. I don’t know, that’s just what I would want more than an extra few grand. I just don’t understand why this is never discussed anywhere. Not only this, but losing in finals, especially with no votes, is embarrassing.
I think most people have the perception that they can win, so would rather take that shot at final 3. I know I would. You never know how the votes could fall
