Sanitation in Brazil

May 30, 2023 by Rizzy
The complexity of public health and infrastructural challenges faced by Brazilian municipalities is strikingly illuminated by recent investigative studies. Data compiled by the National Basic Sanitation Survey and the Sanitation Supplement of the Municipal Basic Information Survey, prestigious entities known for their meticulous research, reveal a startling reality: in the year 2017, an alarming 39.7% of municipalities across Brazil were devoid of sanitary sewage services (Toda Materia, 2017). This alarming figure unearths the stark deficiency in basic, essential infrastructure within these municipalities, underlining a pressing issue of social inequity and posing severe public health implications. The need to address these challenges is clear, but the path forward remains riddled with complexity and requires multi-faceted solutions.

That's half true, the data seems inflated.
But basic sanitation is one of the problems that should be highlighted by politicians, rather than useless things. Brazil is the 5th largest country in area, so it's wrong to say that Brazil doesn't have basic sanitation or running water cause of a small minority

it is very complex to explain. Brazil's biggest problem in my opinion is and has always been social inequality. There are very rich people, rich people, middle class people and very poor people. these poor people probably don't have sanitation. this comes from colonization. people from all over the world came here. It's a mixture of Africans and Indigenous and Europeans. But theres asians and all. the story is very complex. in the south you have a strong influence from europe and the states have developed. the southeast sustains the economy with the center west. the north and northeast concentrate the majority of poor people. it's a huge country. For you to have an idea, there are indigenous who live in the forest and eat monkeys and wild animals. these days I saw the news lol.
