A lot of the time, you only see that person five days out of the week for one reason and only one reason; YOU GO TO SCHOOL WITH THEM.
Most of those relationships flop in the summer and when/if you graduate, a very small percentage continues beyond that.
Finding a "high school sweetheart" is very rare.
It's just really annoying when people are so obsessed over it like, jesus christ, calm your genitalia and watch porn instead.
