He was the smartest in his cast 100%.

HOWEVER, I think in order to be a legend, you need to prove you didn't get lucky in just one season. The other big legends (Dan, Will, Janelle, Danielle Reyes, Dani Donato) have proven they didn't get lucky in their first season by returning and doing well again

SmoothStalker12 most of the people you listed are good examples, but Dani D got second place in season 8, and then in Season 13 she was the second juror. That’s not a horrible placement, I wouldn’t call it getting far again.

I think Derrick did well but I think he’d had to play again to be ranked up there with Dan/Will

NanoNerd The competition he had was very lackluster. He was able to manipulate Cody, Caleb, Frankie, Christine, etc. because they were good competitors, but neither very bright nor good strategists. Other players like Danielle Reyes, Dan Gheesling, Dr. Will, etc. are far better players and more worthy of "legend" status because they did what Derrick did while having much stiffer competition.
