Some old lady spilled mcdonalds hot coffee on herself and sued mcdonalds and she won a lot of money
Nanonerd well, I think she was definitely trying to just take advantage of a situation and hope to get money from a huge corporation, BUT mcdonalds did have hundreds of complaints about their coffee being too hot and burning people and chose to ignore them so i guess it was their own fault
The old lady actually got third degree burns from her coffee. It was so serious, she had to be taken to the hospital. It even left permanent damage on her legs.
And the lady actually didn’t even want to sue McDonalds. At first, she just wrote them a letter asking them to pay for her medical bills. When they refused, they left her no choice. And then in court, the court believed that McDonalds behaved so inappropriately, that they deserved to be punished. And so the old lady got over 600,000 dollars. However, all she was really trying to win was enough money to cover her medical bills.
This woman wasn’t greedy or evil like so many people described her, and so many people claimed she was the reason why America is stupid, why america is corrupt, etc. but in reality, all these people could’ve just took 2 minutes to research the entire incident, and could’ve found out that it wasn’t at all what they thought it was.
