If your levels are 0/0 from the exhausted fire, you must eat or drink before day change. Going into day change with 0/0 will kill you. Your levels will go back up to 30/30 at the merge. If you don't have time to wait for the fire to come back on, you just have to eat 1 food or drink at a time until it stays. Remember, there is only a 50% chance that you will lose everything when eating/drinking with a dead fire. So just keep trying until the 1 stays. Then you'll have either 1/0 or 0/1 and you won't die at day change.
