Nerdy, Harry Potter theory

Jan 8, 2018 by KrisStory
Okay so I was watching Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban and, as a result, I formulated a theory that a certain point in time in this movie is the turning point, or the moment on which every succeeding event rests, of the entire series.

This event is when Sirius Black and Remus Lupan are about to execute Peter Pettigrew for selling out Harry's parents, but Harry stops them, insisting that instead they should keep him alive to prove Black's innocence, as well as force him to live his life with the same punishment that Black unfortunately had to endure while at Askaban.

Although noble, had Harry allowed Black and Lupan to KILL PETTIGREW, then much of the succeeding events would not have occurred. For example:
- Cedrick Diggory, perhaps, would not have been killed because Pettigrew would not have resurrected Voldemort, preventing the death of Diggory at the graveyard in the Goblet of Fire.
- Most importantly, however, had Pettigrew been killed, then Voldemort may not have been resurrected for a longer period of time, causing the timeline of events to be extraordinarily different. As a result, MANY lives probably would have been saved, including George's, Lupan's, Black's, etc. If there wasn't a Dark Lord to gather around, then perhaps there wouldn't have been another war between good and evil.

Thus, Harry Potter is responsible for the death of many of his friends, including those who could have changed the entire course of events by killing Pettigrew (Black and Lupan), for probably the better. Considering Black's name wasn't cleared anyways, Black would've been better off just killing Pettigrew when they had the chance, effectively saving many of Potters' friends lives, including his own, and preventing the rise of the Dark Lord.

So, can you agree that this is likely the most important moment, or turning point, in the entire series?

krisstory no you credit Peter too much for the rise of the dark lord. Yes I’m the novels he was the one that started the gathering back of the followers. Remember ever since Voldemort took over quirells body in the 1st book he can communicate with people using the last little bit of his soul. His rise was going to happen wether Peter was killed or not easily around the same time. Furthermore if he messed the time scheme up there is no assurance harry would have beaten Voldemort. Lastly if he wanted Cedric to live all he had to do was take the port key as darbe said. Instead they had to deal both win which never would have been accepted as the tournament can only have one winner a stricter requirement than the entry shit.

koolness234 that's why I address that it is only a chance that his friends wouldn't die, as the events could have gone better or worse, which is obviously unknown. However, the events would definitely have been very different imo if Peter was killed by Black and Lupan rather than kept alive. So no matter the result, I believe that this scene is very momentous in the series.
