So I work at a summer camp for kids ages 6-12. Today one of my kids used the phrase: "THIS IS SO RETARDED!" Since I hate when people use the words retarded/gay incorrectly, I put the kid in time out. But I know that some of the other counelors just let it slide. My take on situations like this is that kids shouldn't grow up thinkining it's okay to substitute retarded and gay for the word stupid, etc. because it can offend/hurt other people's feelings. Was I in the wrong or right tengaged?

I agree with you, but no matter what you do people are still going to be stupid and ignorant, so I usually just let shit like that slide. Unless it gets out of hand..
