Contestants! Thank you for submitting your songs in a timely manner :) This was honestly a really good round, I don’t think I fully disliked any one song, so I am giving five people high placements this round as well as the usual three low placements :) Now, let’s get to the judge’s critiques!
Are safe! Congrats on making it to the next round! That means everyone else represents the 5 tops and 3 bottoms of the week! I’ll be critiquing in order of submission :)
Heavenlee - “Aint no Devil” - This song actually reminds me of my favorite musical “Hadestown”. I like the concept, it feels gritty, but it doesn’t bring something I haven’t heard before and the clapping part in the chorus wasn’t on beat and that always dock points from me, unfortunately.
3pi14159 - “Going Crazy” - I like the concept of this song, the opening was cool and I like the vocals but I feel like this song loses its build by going electronic. I wanna hear an acoustic version with the same artist tbh.
BbLover96 - “Highway” - This was my favorite kind of electronic music, this was such a vibe :) Totally something I can drive to :)
Jacksonjoseph99 - “Reasons not to Die” - I hear the raw emotion in her voice and that’s something I don’t hear a lot in music these days and I’m so glad I was able to hear this :)
Insanity - “Miss America” - Another bop, these lyrics had so much meaning and his voice was incredible as well, I am adding this one to my playlist :)
Ahea7561 - “Champagne Clouds” - Umm she just did THAT with her voice! I love that this was acoustic, she needed nothing but a guitar and her voice, and those BACKGROUNDS were so in sync!
Irelia - “Daydream” - This is the only group I’d heard of and I was NOT disappointed, so upbeat and so vibey, the guitar part gave me life and I loved the backgrounds too :)
letal - “Girlie” - It’s not that I dislike the song it’s that this is a strong group of songs this round and this song is a tad boring in my personal opinion. I like everything about it but it feels a little slow and like things I’ve heard before. If you stay I hope to see something new :)

Ahea7561 with “Champagne Clouds” by Malia Civetz! It’s so hard to deny a win to insane vocal talent and this one blew my mind :) Awesome job this round!

Heavenlee with “Ain’t no Devil” by Andrea Wasse. This song wouldn’t have eliminated you if the round hadn’t been so strong but, unfortunately, I found this song to be the weak link. Thanks so much for playing!
