I don’t see why I have to learn what William Shakespeare meant in his shitty plays that no ones cares about while I have no idea how to do basic things like file taxes or get a mortgage. Aka things I actually will do someday, rather than boring words on a page written in old English

You can argue that one specific example, fine. The overall point is that there could be much better usage of time. When I had to fill out papers when I got hired awhile back, I was genuinely confused about how to fill out the papers. Where I could and arguably should be learning about how to do things I will actually need to do in life, schools would rather we know what happened in 1544. It's just kind of a waste in my opinion
