And it was amazing! I love the movie and I always wanted to see the show on stage but their are hardly any footage of the stage show from the 70's so it was nice to see it revilved and given new life. The acting was great and the singing was top notch. Mary J killed it as the Wicked Witch of the West and Elijah Kelley really shocked me with how good he was. Elijah had to live up to the King of Pop and I thought he did a damn fine job. What shocked me the most was how close to the book it was. Dorothy had silver slippers, she is sent off by the Witch of North and not Glinda, the Kaladias show up, among many other smalls things such as the Winkies wearing Yellow. Most Wizard of Oz adaptations are nothing like the book (Sometimes for good reasons), but it was nice to see L Frank Baum's story really come alive for the most part. Overall it was really nice show and it show off how talented African Americans can really be. Especially in era in time where being black is pretty much a death note. Its nice to see show that doesn't look down on Black culture and Black Beauty but lifts them up to new heights.
