Ultimately, though he went from bad to evil over the years, Walter White succeeded in the last episode in doing exactly what he sought to do in the very first episode of the show. By setting up the money plan with sketchy Gretchy and Elliot, he ensured that his son, and by extension his family, would be financially sound after he was gone.
The question now is, had Walt known what he would have become, the terrible things that he put his family through on his quest to provide for them, would it have just been better to leave them broke instead of turning into a blue meth drug lord?
Like get a real, non tax-evading cover job Skyler. What a bitch.
I'm sad it's over, but it ended really, really well.
