That’s how many days ago my spirit died.
That’s how many days ago all the joy in my life left me.
That’s how many days ago the only one I loved in life took her last breath.
I still remember the good times we had together. Whenever I was having a bad day, I could always count on her to cheer me up.
Sometimes she just made me more upset, but that wasn’t her fault. It was just in her DNA.
I should have seen the signs. They were all there.
First she lost all her money and went bankrupt. This is what we would argue about the most. I wish I hadn’t. It didn’t matter that much in the end. I loved her more than I ever hated the financial troubles.
It wasn’t long after that she started having speech issues. She would repeat words, stutter, shout nonsensical phrases. Everyone knew there was a problem but the one person who could help her refused. I had to do my best to manage the puzzling situations I was put into.
Her friends all had issues too. They were constantly being cheated on, herself included. That was probably the straw that broke the camels back.
All she could see were her seemingly better off friends suffering the same way she was.
One of her friends was constantly giving away millions. That couldn’t save her.
Another friend had all the riches and jewels one could ever dream of. That didn’t save her either.
A third was the most well-read, literate person she knew. Again, this did not help her friend.
If all of these things couldn’t save her friends, how was she to be saved?
Six hundred nine days ago I lost my best friend.
I know she wouldn’t want me to be sad, and I know she would want us to remember her by her last words, which I will record for you all here:
