[1] Shrine Grounds
The shrine grounds cover a wide circle in stone tile, with an elevated area leading up to the shrine. The area is pretty large, but it cuts off the forest with a metal, spiked fence. Gates on the fence span out in four directions, but none of them are able to be budged.
[2] Temple Torii/Entrance
There is a large, red torii in front of the shrine. Behind the torii are two sculptures of dogs, and a short distance away is a pavilion meant for washing and purifying your hands and mouth. At the actual entrance of the shrine, a large rope is on the top, hanging above a wooden box. This is where people would make prayers to the kami most likely. There is also a few chairs stood off of the shrine entrance.
[3] Offering Hall
There is plenty of seating at the front of the room, and inside is a large wooden floor, meant for offerings, ceremonies, and worshipping of the spirits. There is a door at the back that leads elsewhere, but it is locked. To the left is the living area, containing several rooms.
[4] Communal Bedroom
There are many beds around this room; most likely meant for the students. There is an extra bed when you count all of them, but that one might be for Mikokuma. Bears sometimes have to sleep you know? There’s a sign before you walk in saying that no violence is allowed in the bedrooms. That probably includes murder too.
[5] Kitchen Area
The kitchen is fairly simple, but it’s surprising that there are appliances in a shrine like this. There is a stove and an oven to cook items, but it does not appear that there is much in the pantry of this besides produce. Pots and pans hang over the cooking area, which would be great for boiling and other things. There is also running water in the form of a sink, so at least you won’t have to find a well or anything.
[6] Dining Area
Attached to the kitchen is the dining area, containing several wooden tables and chairs to eat at. How non-traditional.
[7] Outhouse
The outhouse is a tiny, wooden building, of course meant for dealing with bathroom matters. It’s best not to go into detail, as it’s just a regular outhouse.
[8] Outside Bathing Area
Behind the shrine to the left is a bathing area, covered by an old, patterned sheet on most sides. There’s towel on the wall of shrine, and the water is steaming, implying that this is an onsen. Maybe the natural spring is nearby. On the sheet is a sign that states that if one gender is using the bath, only that gender can use the bath at that time.
[9] Outdoor Stage
Another area, elevated from the rest of the elevated ground, is a stage meant for dancing and other religious ceremonies. It’s very intricate, with plenty of details.
[10] Storehouse
Behind the shrine to the right is this separate building, meant for holding spare supplies. There’s a lot of things in here, which is confusing for the amount of space there appears to be from the outside.
