Newz shocked everyone with a wild winner's pick in 11th-seeded Syracuse, who were projected to lose their opening game today. It was one of many low-seed picks which ultimately led him to finish with a poor performance on Day 1. However, a Syracuse win gives Newz some hope as the challenge continues. Newz finished the day with 40 points, correctly guessing 4/16 games.

Kevin M was the only player in the 87-person pool to correctly pick 15th seeded Oral Roberts to upset Ohio State. However, Kevin was also the only player to pick San Diego State to win the whole tournament, and they lost their first game to Syracuse. Therefore, Kevin's bracket is the first to BUST!

Eoin came in as a rookie pooler who made a rookie mistake. He chose 16-seeded Hartford to make the Final Four, not realizing 16-seeds in history have only won a single game. He paired that with a lackluster day to end up with 70 points.

Ben P came into the game as one of the more experienced poolers. He was one of the favorites going into today but stumbled on some risky upset picks. He finishes the day with 70 points.

Ahmed may have been successful in New York, but he won't see the same success in Indiana. After picking 12th-seeded Winthrop to win the whole tournament, it sunk his ship. Although a trendy upset pick, Winthrop lost its opening game, leading to another bracket BUST!

Adam dodged two risky plays in his Final Four with Villanova and Syracuse winning today. He started off slow, ranking at the bottom of the overall leaderboard early today but was able to make a nice comeback in the evening. He also has a dark horse UConn Final Four pick that could put him in a real nice position if it pans out. Adam finishes the day with 80 points, correctly guessing half of the games.

Harry nearly became the first bracket to be eliminated after Arkansas nearly lost to a school named after a toothpaste in Colgate. His Arkansas pick helps him stand out in the field and he will be in the running if Arkansas remains in the tournament. Harry finishes the day with 80 points, correctly guessing half of the games.

Jack played a risky bracket with several upsets that failed to pan out. However, he has uniqueness in his bracket as the only player with Texas Tech and West Virginia in the Final Four. If those schools stick around, Jack can become a serious contender. Jack finished the day with 80 points.

Ben O began the day nearly losing the tournament before it even began. His champion Florida survived their first game in overtime today and as long as Florida remains in the tournament, Ben is a contender. However, putting Drexel in the Final 4 along with two teams seeded 7 or worse is going to make it very difficult for Ben to score very high. Ben finished the day with 90 points.

Stoner also experienced a bit of first day worries as his championship pick Villanova found themselves trailing during their first game. They were able to pull out the win and it highlighted a very successful first day for our resident marijuana man. Stoner finished the day with 100 points, correctly guessing 10/16 games.
