I have very close ties to the Italian Cuisine. Thus, I could not let an opportunity like this one pass.

I believe that the dish I bring you today is a simple yet very very well-balanced meal.

I made some changes to the original recipe in order to make the skillet a little more intensely flavored - I used Italian Turkey Sausage, Italian diced tomatoes, extra garlic, and added some Italian seasoning.

Here is my dish:

Please, enjoy.

I love Spanish Cuisine. And this dish is one of a heck traditional of their country. Spain is well known in their Paella with all those seafood in it. In my dish, its different. And it's the best!

This will require a bit of backstory/explanation, so I apologize in advance for the lengthiness of this:

My heritage consists of ancestors spanning Northern Europe, but 63% of my family line comes from Germany, a culture I'm all too familiar with. So, I decided to take traditional German cuisine and modernize it a slight bit, but the ingredients and most of the methods used in making this dish were used in Germany and still are to this day. I used the staple meat in Germany, pork, accompanied by the flavors of other well-used ingredients in Germany. And yes, this has been made by me in real life and is an original recipe.

Recipe: Pork Tenderloin Ingwersud (Ingwersud means "cooked in ginger stock")

Picture: http://i46.tinypic.com/2jcek9d.jpg

Ingredients:

Pork Tenderloin, cut into medallions

Ginger Stock:

Ginger Root, sliced
Leek, chopped
Carrots, chopped
Garlic Clove, sliced
Chicken Bouillon (Couldn't find any Beef Bouillon)
Bay Leaves

Parting note: Traditional German food isn't always plated in a gourmet manner, so I did my best to make things look... professional XD

I've noticed that not many participants chose to cook a German dish. Perhaps it's because of German cuisine is intimidating; servings are usually big and hearty, flavors are oftentimes strong. But that's German food for you and with the right strategies, I know I can present a very delicious, homey, and creative meal.

I decided to cook Himmel und Erde. The phrase translates to "Heaven and Earth". It can be used as a side dish or a main dish. Obviously, I decided to use it as a main dish. To make the dish more unique and satisfying, I decided to add Blutwurst sausage. I HOPE YOU GUYS ENJOY! :D

Here is a picture of the dish:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/dive-angel/5556568210/

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

1 lb. starchy potatoes
1 lb. cooking apples
2 tbsp. butter
nutmeg, salt, pepper to season
1 - 2 onions, sliced
butter
Blutwurst sausage

Instructions:
Peel and cube potatoes into 1 inch cubes. Peel and thickly slice apples.
Cook potatoes and apples in boiling salted water until tender, about 10 - 15 minutes. Drain.
Mash until smooth and creamy, adding butter. Season with salt, nutmeg, and pepper.
Meanwhile, fry onion slices in about 2 tbsp. butter (or oil) until crispy.
Grill the sausage for fifteen minutes, chop it, and add it to the dish.
Serve onions on top of mashed mixture.
