I would first like to give the contestants a warm welcome and a brief description of my judging style. First, this is a modeling contest, not a photography contest. If the shot as a whole is a beautiful picture, that is awesome, but if I can barely see the model’s face or she isn’t the main focus, then it isn’t a good modeling shot. Second, I am OCD about things like blurriness and writing on the picture. If it’s too small and I can’t make it bigger without blurring it, it will get a lower score from me. If it has any type of watermark from a website or company, it will get a lower score from me. Lastly, this is a high fashion contest, so be original and fresh!
cwustu89 – This isn’t high fashion to me. It looks like a girl trying to be a model. The face is very weak and the body position is awkward. Contorted bodies can be amazing in modeling, but this doesn’t work for me.
xbeckywxx – I like this shot. The wires are a creative touch and they make it original. The facial expression makes it a bit hard to see the features, but it still works. Overall, this is a good job.
Presumed – This goes back to two things I said in my opening. It’s an awesome shot, but it borders on being more of an art piece than a modeling photo. It was also very small and I couldn’t get a close up of the face. As a picture though, I like it.
cassie_xo – The F in the bottom corner turns me off immediately. The beach background is too bland for me. If you’re going to do beach, make it more interesting. The pose really helped you on this one. The body contortion is amazing.
GoAlexandra – This is definitely one of the better shots. The piece of red hair coming under the eye is particularly interesting to me. The eyelashes and lips are done exquisitely.
TripleXXX – This was honestly very disappointing. It is something that I would see in Victoria’s Secret. Two things saved you on this one: the fact that the face isn’t bad and the fact that she is not doing a typical lingerie sexy pose. Otherwise, it would have been way too Victoria’s Secret meets porn. You can do better.
dawnmicd – This also goes back to what I said in the opening about photography vs. fashion. They are so closely related, but I feel like I am more drawn to the dress, hat, and parasol than I am to the model. Good photo, but you need to show off more modeling in the future.
Casinos – Hey boy! Cherry Chang is in the house! Five bucks an hour for anything you want! Okay seriously this is like pin-up meets porn meets Victoria’s Secret. Red leather mini dress with boobs falling out and a hand on the butt is totally not high fashion. The technically good modeling face saved you from being the absolute worst shot.
Jermin119 – Going back to what I said in the opening, this is much too small. This would be much higher on the judges’ ranking order I submitted if I could actually see what was going on. The dress is really cool, but other than that I can’t really see anything specifically.
analeighbrie – Well, you stayed true to your username. This is a really awesome headshot, but it is not high fashion. If I was a casting director, then I would book this model, but not for anything going into a unique Vogue shoot. It’s too bland. In the future, take risks.
MelloJello – I felt like this was really textbook high fashion, but I still like it. In future shots, be sure to give photos that aren’t as heavy and filled with stuff so that we know you aren’t just a one-trick pony.
gxvgxv94 – This is a really awesome photograph, and I love the indie feel. However, I don’t know how high fashion it is. You have the ability to pick a good photo, but you need to polish off what is high fashion and what is not.
britishboiii00 – I really like this picture because everything works. The hat, the hair, the eye, the mouth, and the fact that it’s black and white are all spot on. I am excited to see more from you.
