are black and white colours?

I heard this guy say black is the absence of colour which i think is wrong because if you mix magenta, cyan and yellow you will get black. White on the other hand is not a colour because there are no 2 colours you can mix to get pure white. So white is the absence of colour hence why people call it "white space"

In light, black is the absence of color and white is the combination of all the colors.
In anything else, they are.

depends on if ur combining paint or light
paint: red+blue+yellow=black
light: red+blue+yellow=white
