I rarely, if ever, have nightmares... that is, if I even have a dream at all, it's usually nothing I would deem scary. Now, I am a horror movie fanatic, so it takes quite a bit to scare me. But for whatever reason, my subconscious gave me the most terrifying dream I've ever had tonight. I just woke up from it, and I can confirm... my heart is racing, I feel ready to throw up, and I considered taking a cold shower. THAT'S what kind of dream this was.
The sad thing is, I can already barely remember it. I know for one thing that I had somehow time traveled. This is because the main action of the dream took place in a bathroom that I supposedly had already been to. Even now typing it, I feel my stomach turning. It had to do with some form of my dad or dad "figure" in a sense, beating and raping me. Basically, in some version of the past, I had done something to either hurt or embarrass him, but for some reason he couldn't hurt me (I think I was a minor, but I'm not sure if that's it). So he waited, and waited, and waited until I came of age, and then one day he snapped and beat me, raped me, and left me to die in my bathroom. Well for some reason, I was back in that bathroom and I knew what he was planning. I could see him pacing outside, preparing for his attack. So I climbed out the window. He heard me and began chasing me all through our neighborhood. I couldn't go to my neighbors because he had somehow convinced them I was in a manic state and they shouldn't open the door for me.
Ultimately, I woke up before I found out what happened to me. Idk if I'm happy about this, or upset because I'll never have resolution, but either way it was absolutely terrifying. I still feel uneasy even now. The strange thing is, I remember some plot points - hide and seek, a cat, something involving the distortion of my father - but I don't remember at all how they fit in. Regardless of whatever this dream means, one thing's for certain... it got me better than any horror movie in the last ten years of my life has.
